			The concept of being "as good as God" requires careful philosophical distinction to avoid the pitfalls of impersonalism. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the living entity (jīva) is a minute, fragmental part of the Supreme Lord. Qualitatively, the soul is as good as God, just as a drop of ocean water is as salty as the entire ocean. However, due to material contamination, the soul falsely thinks it is quantitatively equal to God or independent of Him. This false pride—the desire to become one with the Lord—is described as the last snare of māyā. True liberation is not merging into God, but reviving one's original, uncontaminated condition as His eternal servant.

			In the realm of pure devotional service, the phrase "as good as God" takes on a different, exalted meaning. A bona fide spiritual master (guru) or a pure devotee is respected as being as good as God. This does not mean the Vaiṣṇava blasphemously thinks himself to be the Supreme; rather, it means he is honored like God because he is the most confidential servitor. The guru does not invent philosophy but perfectly repeats the instructions of the ācāryas. Because the pure devotee acts exclusively on behalf of the Lord, his presence, instructions, and protective mercy are as effective as the Lord's.

			Furthermore, because the Supreme Lord is Absolute, anything directly connected to Him shares His supreme nature. Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasizes that the Lord's holy name, His sound representation (oṁkāra), His pastimes, His paraphernalia, and His spoken words in the Bhagavad-gītā are all exactly as good as the Lord Himself. Similarly, the Lord's plenary expansions—such as Saṅkarṣaṇa, Pradyumna, and Aniruddha—are fully empowered and nondifferent from the original Viṣṇu, just as a flame lit from an original candle burns with the exact same intensity.
