Theme Analysis
The concept of "false ego" is central to understanding the conditioned state of the living entity. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that while the ego (the sense of "I") is an intrinsic part of the soul, it becomes "false" when it is misdirected toward the material body. Consequently, the soul identifies with the temporary body and its by-products—family, nation, and society—creating a network of illusion known as "I and mine."
