Theme Analysis
Lord Aniruddha is the fourth member of the quadruple expansion (catur-vyūha) of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appearing after Vāsudeva, Saṅkarṣaṇa, and Pradyumna. In the complex theology of the Pāñcarātra and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Aniruddha holds a pivotal role as the presiding Deity of the mind and the false ego (ahaṅkāra). He is the source of the puruṣa-avatāras who manage the material creation, specifically expanding as Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (the Supersoul). For the practitioner of yoga and bhakti, Aniruddha is the object of meditation to quell mental agitation and align the senses with the desire of the Lord. He resides eternally in the spiritual world, and in the material world, He rests on the ocean of milk on the island of Śvetadvīpa.
