Theme Analysis
The desire to enjoy independently is the root illusion of material life. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the living being is not the supreme enjoyer but an eternal servant of Kṛṣṇa, and therefore pleasure becomes real only when it is connected with Him. Material enjoyment is compared to the diseased condition of a jaundiced man who cannot taste sugar candy properly; the object may remain the same, but the diseased condition distorts the experience. The soul cannot enjoy through covered senses, flickering bodily pleasure, wealth, sex, or independent possession, because all these are temporary and disconnected from the Supreme Enjoyer. - We have to purify the propensity of material sense gratification. That is Krsna consciousness. For Krsna consciousness we have to be purified. What is that purification? We cannot enjoy anything directly, so we have to enjoy through Krsna
