- A child is begotten by the combination of prakrti, the enjoyed, and purusa, the enjoyer. In the same way, whatever we see in the phenomenal world is produced by this combination of ksetra and ksetrajna
- According to the Visnu Purana (6.7.61-3), the living entities are considered ksetrajna energy
- As explained in the Thirteenth Chapter of Bhagavad-gita, there are two souls within the body. The body is called ksetra, and there are two ksetra jnas, or occupants of the body, namely the Supersoul (Paramatma) and the individual soul
- As stated in Bhagavad-gita (BG 13.3), ksetra-jnam capi mam viddhi sarva-ksetresu bharata. There are two kinds of ksetrajna, or living beings. One is the individual living being, and the other is the supreme living being
I
- I know the pains and pleasure of my body; you know the pains and pleasure of your body. Therefore, in relationship with your body, you are ksetra-jna, and in relationship with my body I am ksetra-jna
- If we meditate upon this body and study whether or not we are actually the body, we will come to the conclusion that we are ksetrajna, the knower of the body but not the body
- In Bhagavad-gita (BG 15.15), Krsna says that the Lord is situated in everyone's heart (sarvasya caham hrdi sannivisto mattah smrtir jnanam apohanam ca). As mentioned herein (SB 5.11.11), Supersoul (ksetrajna) is directing everything
- In Bhagavad-gita it is clearly explained that the living entity is the proprietor of this body (ksetra jna) and that the body is the field of activities (ksetra)
- In the Bhagavad-gita, in Sri Krsna’s discourse on the ksetra and the ksetra-jna, it is clearly stated that the ksetra-jna is the living entity, who knows his field of activities
- In the eleventh chapter of Bhagavad-gita, the Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna, discusses the subject matter of ksetra, ksetrajna, and also prakrti (nature, or the phenomenal world, which is enjoyed) and purusa - the enjoyer of the phenomenal world
- In the language of Bhagavad-gita, the spirit soul is called ksetrajna, the knower or tiller of the field, whereas the body and mind, the coverings of the spirit soul, are called ksetra, or the field
- In this sloka (SB 5.11.12) the word ksetrajna refers to an ordinary living being, not the supreme living being
- It is confirmed in Bhagavad-gita (BG 13.3): ksetra-jnam capi mam viddhi sarva-ksetresu bharata. Lord Krsna is the ksetra jna, or Supersoul, of all living entities. He is the original source of all expansions of the Personality of Godhead
- It is stated in Bhagavad-gita that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is ksetra jna, present within this body, but He is also simultaneously present in every other body
K
- Krsna says that "I am also ksetrajna." Ksetra-jnam capi mam viddhi sarva-ksetresu bharata: "But the distinction is that the individual soul is situated in that particular body, but I am situated in every body, all-pervading."
- Ksetra means the place, and one who knows the place is called the ksetrajna
- Ksetra means this body, and ksetra-jna means the knower of the body. Ksetra-jna. Jna means knower. So Krsna says that each and every body can be ksetra-jna. I know about the pains and pleasure of my body; you know the pains and pleasure of your body
- Ksetrajna is the proprietor of the ksetra (the body). The individual soul is actually not the proprietor but the occupant
- Ksetrajna means the knower of the body. I, you, every one of us, we are individual living entities. We are also ksetrajna. I know this is my body, this is my finger, this is my hair, this is my leg. Jna. Jna means one who knows
L
- Lord Krsna explains that all actions and reactions that take place in this phenomenal world are the actions and reactions of this combination of ksetra and ksetrajna, or nature and the enjoyer of nature
- Lord Krsna is the ksetra jna, or Supersoul, of all living entities. He is the original source of all expansions of the Personality of Godhead
O
- O King, the ksetra-jna-sakti is the living entity. Although he has the facility to live in either the material or the spiritual world, he suffers the threefold miseries of material existence because he is influenced by the avidya (nescience) potency
- Out of the six questions - ksetra, ksetra-jna, prakrti, purusa, jnanam, jneyam - He is answering the first two, pair
P
- Physics, chemistry, astronomy, pharmacology, economics, sexology, and other material sciences deal with the materials of ksetra. But the science that deals with spiritual existence - pertaining to ksetrajna - is called transcendental knowledge
- Purusa, or enjoyer is the central objective of all knowledge, because it is this ksetrajna alone that creates everything in conjunction with the material body and mind and the allied physical elements
T
- The body is born, it grows, it stays, it produces by-products, then it begins to decay, and at the last stage it vanishes. Therefore the field is a nonpermanent material thing. However, the ksetra-jna, the knower of the field, its proprietor, is different
- The energy of the Supreme Lord is divided into three: para, ksetrajna and avidya
- The field is a nonpermanent material thing. However, the ksetrajna, the knower of the field, its proprietor, is different. BG 1972 purports
- The individual soul is the proprietor of his individual body, but the Lord clearly states, "My dear Bharata, you must know that I am also ksetra jna. " Ksetra jna means "the knower or proprietor of the body"
- The ksetra jna, the owner of the body, is also called the khaga, the living entity. Within the body there are two such ksetra jnas - the individual soul and the Supersoul
- The ksetrajna is the eternal spirit, whereas the ksetra is matter, which is temporary and ephemeral. This eternal truth is summarized in the Vedas in the aphorism brahma satyam jagan mithya: "Spirit is fact and the world is a false shadow"
- The living entity is also ksetrajna, but the supreme ksetrajna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is the witness and order giver. Under His direction, everything takes place
- The living entity, who is also ksetra jna, or the knower of the body, is not the body's only proprietor; the actual proprietor of the body is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the supreme ksetra jna
- The Lord is ksetra-jnah, conscious, as is the living being, but the living being is conscious of his particular body, whereas the Lord is conscious of all bodies. BG 1972 Introduction
- The Lord said that the living entities are known as ksetrajna, or "knowers of the field of activities." In the Thirteenth Chapter of BG, the body is described as the field of activities, and the living entity as ksetrajna, the knower of that field
- The para energy is actually the energy of the Supreme Lord Himself; the ksetrajna energy is the living entity; and the avidya energy is the material world, or maya
- The Supersoul is called antaryami, and He is extensive. This is confirmed in Bhagavad-gita. Ksetra-jnam capi mam viddhi sarva-ksetresu bharata
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, is instructing Arjuna about the knowledge of ksetra and ksetrajna. Ksetra refers to the field, which is the body, and ksetrajna refers to the knower of the field, who is the individual soul
- The total energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is classified in three divisions - namely, the spiritual or internal potency of the Lord, the marginal potency, or ksetra-jna (the living entity), & the material potency, which is separated from SPG
- The vasudeva status is also explained in Bhagavad-gita as ksetra-jna, which refers to the knower of the field of activities as well as the Superknower
- The word 'ksetrajna' refers to the living entity, the enjoyer, the chief and material nature
- The word visvan is significant in the verse (SB 2.6.21). One who travels perfectly in every field of activity is called the purusa or ksetrajna. These two terms, ksetrajna & purusa, are applicable to both the individual self and the Supreme Self, God
- There are two constituents: one is the living entity (ksetra jna), and the other is the body of the living entity (ksetra)
- There are two kinds of ksetrajna - the living entity, as explained above, and the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is explained as follows. He is the all-pervading cause of creation. He is full in Himself and is not dependent on others
- There are two ksetrajnas. One ksetrajna is the jiva, soul, and another ksetrajna is Paramatma, Bhagavan
- There is another spiritual potency, known as ksetra-jna, or the living entity. The third potency, which is known as nescience, makes the living entity godless and fills him with fruitive activity
- This (BG 14.3) is an explanation of the world: everything that takes place is due to the combination of ksetra & ksetrajna, the body & the spirit soul. This combination of material nature & the living entity is made possible by the SG Himself. BG 1972 p
- This ksetrajna is the living spirit, whereas the ksetra is the material which is lorded over. Physics, chemistry, astronomy, pharmacology, economics, sexology, and other material sciences deal with the materials of ksetra
- To understand what the ksetrajna, the knower of the body, and to understand what is this body, ksetra-ksetrajnayoh, and who is the another, real proprietor of the body, Krsna - ksetrajnam ca api mam viddhi
W
- We are called ksetrajna. But the difference is, Krsna knows everything all over the creation; I even do not know what is going on in my body. That is the difference
- We must remember that Puranjana is the living entity, and the city Pancala is the body. The body is the field of activity for the living entity, as stated in Bhagavad-gita: ksetra-ksetrajna
- We shall get full opportunity to discuss all these subjects more elaborately, but for the present we may be satisfied simply by knowing that the ksetrajna (purusa, or enjoyer) is the central objective of all knowledge
- We take birth by the force of the material potency, but as stated here with reference to the Visnu Purana, the ksetra-jna, or living entity, belongs to the spiritual potency
