- A devotee eats only prasada, or foodstuffs offered to the Supreme Lord, and Krsna says that when a devotee offers Him foodstuffs from the vegetable kingdom, with devotion, He eats that

- We observe the system followed in Jagannath Puri. First the foodstuff is offered to Lord Jagannath and then His Prasad is offered to the different demigods; then we may take such remainders as prasadam
- What is the essence? What is the value of flower? Value, there is practically no value. But yo me bhaktya prayacchati. The real value is that the flower is offered with devotion, the food is offered with devotion
- Whatever edibles a sannyasi gets from a householder’s house he should take outside near some lake or river, & after offering the food to Visnu, Brahma & the sun (3 divisions), he should eat the entire offering and not leave anything for others to eat

- When the brahmana was offering the food to Lord Visnu in meditation, child Nimai came before him and began to eat it, and because of this the brahmana thought the whole offering had been spoiled
- When there is an epidemic disease, an antiseptic vaccine protects a person from the attack of such an epidemic. Similarly, food offered to Lord Visnu and then taken by us makes us sufficiently resistant to material affection. BG 1972 purports
- While cleansing the floor of the temple, while dressing the Deity, while bathing the Deity, or while offering Him food, one will always see Him. This is the process of devotional service
- With great attention, one must prepare an oblation of grains boiled in ghee and milk and must chant the Purusa-sukta mantra. The offerings of food should be of varieties of tastes. In this way, one should worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead
