Theme Analysis
The life of Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī perfectly exemplifies the practical and sublime instructions of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu regarding family duty, renunciation, and scriptural study. As a young boy, Raghunātha had the immense fortune of personally serving Lord Caitanya at his father's house in Vārāṇasī. Later in life, he traveled to Jagannātha Purī and lived with the Lord for eight months, joyfully cooking for Him and experiencing ecstatic love of Godhead. Rather than instructing him to immediately abandon his home, Lord Caitanya ordered Raghunātha to return and serve his aged parents specifically because they were pure Vaiṣṇavas. The Lord flatly forbade him from marrying, ordering him to remain a lifelong brahmacārī and to study the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam exclusively from a self-realized soul. Following these orders to perfection, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa later returned to the Lord after his parents' passing and was sent to Vṛndāvana to become one of the illustrious six Gosvāmīs.

- Taking permission from Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Raghunatha Bhatta then departed for Vrndavana. When he arrived there, he put himself under the care of Rupa and Sanatana Gosvamis
- Then his parents died at Kasi (Varanasi), and he became detached. He therefore returned to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, giving up all relationships with his home
