- It (following the Vedic directions) is a chance for the conditioned souls to attain liberation; therefore the conditioned souls must try to follow the process of yajna by becoming Krsna conscious. BG 1972 purports
- It appears that in those days a man could be purchased for any purpose. Hariscandra was in need of a person to sacrifice as the animal in a yajna and thus fulfill his promise to Varuna, and a man was purchased from another man for this purpose

- These performances are called yajnas because their ultimate goal is to satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Visnu
