- In the meantime he (Vrkasura) happened to meet the great sage Narada and consulted with him as to whom he should approach to achieve quick results from his austerity

- Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom, and religiousness. So people who want to become brahmanas must be educated to acquire these qualities
- People are becoming inclined to karma-sukha(?). So it is a very difficult position to convince them that this is not needed. The real life is to become Krsna conscious, and for that purpose one should undergo austerities
- People become awestruck when they learn that the life span on Brahmaloka is many millions of years. One has to undergo severe austerities and renunciation, accepting the sannyasa order of life, in order to reach Brahmaloka

- Tapas or austerity is especially meant for the retired life. BG 1972 purports

- We accept you as our spiritual master and director so that by the power of your austerity we may easily defeat the enemies who have conquered us
- We are hankering after perpetual happiness, continued happiness. So Rsabhadeva advised, "My dear boys, you take to austerity." Tapo divyam yena suddhyet sattvam. - After you are purified, then brahma-saukhyam anantam, then you get unlimited happiness
