Theme Analysis
The brahmajyoti, or the great spiritual effulgence, is frequently misunderstood by mundane scholars as the ultimate, formless Absolute Truth, completely devoid of personality. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda consistently clarifies that the brahmajyoti is not separate from God; rather, it is the dazzling bodily luster emanating directly from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Just as the sunshine cannot exist independently of the sun globe, this all-pervading spiritual light is an effect of the supreme cause, Lord Kṛṣṇa. While impersonalists and certain mystic yogīs aspire to merge into this glowing oneness, such a destination is only a partial realization of the Absolute Truth. Because the effulgence is an expansion of the Lord's internal potency, even the most staunch monists must eventually accept the path of bhakti-yoga to truly penetrate this light. By understanding that the Supreme Lord is simultaneously localized as a person and all-pervading through His brahmajyoti, a pure devotee surpasses the desire for formless salvation and attains the ultimate perfection of eternal, loving service in the spiritual planets.
