This is the pastime of Kṛṣṇa known as dāmodara-līlā. Therefore another of Kṛṣṇa's names is Dāmodara. As stated in the Hari-vaṁśa:
- sa ca tenaiva nāmnā tu
- kṛṣṇo vai dāma-bandhanāt
- goṣṭhe dāmodara iti
- gopībhiḥ parigīyate
