Theme Analysis
Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Yādavas are the eternal, pure devotees and intimate associates of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Because the Supreme Lord chose to take birth in the dynasty of Mahārāja Yadu to glorify His great devotee, the entire Yadu dynasty became famous for all time, and Kṛṣṇa Himself is affectionately addressed as Yādava. The Yādavas were always rapt in thought of Kṛṣṇa, enjoying unique and intimate relationships with Him as their master, advisor, friend, or family head. Although they were highly learned and uniquely privileged to associate with the Lord so closely, their cognition of Kṛṣṇa as the absolute Supreme Personality of Godhead was sometimes veiled by yoga-māyā—they often saw Him as the all-pervading Supersoul or their dearest relative. This intimate covering allowed for the sweetest exchanges of pure devotion, placing the Yādavas on the same exalted level as the Pāṇḍavas and Vidura.
