- A common man must execute the rules & regulations of varnasrama-dharma by working in his prescribed duty according to the caste system (brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra) and the spiritual-order system - brahmacarya, grhastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa
- A dog is also becoming a father. The such kind of father-becoming is not recommended in the Vedic civilization. Just become a real father to give the real benefit to the son. Then you become a father. This is called varnasrama-dharma
- A grhastha-brahmana partaking of the varnasrama-dharma institution can secure various types of paraphernalia to worship Lord Visnu through his honest labor
- A man retired from household life must practice austerities of the body, mind and tongue. That is tapasya. The entire varnasrama-dharma society is meant for tapasya. Without tapasya or austerity no human being can get liberation. BG 1972 purports
- Accepting the process of varnasrama-dharma will make a person's life successful because this will connect him with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the goal of human life. Therefore the Krsna consciousness movement is meant for all of humanity
- According to the system of varnasrama-dharma, one who is over fifty years of age must leave home, go to the forest and completely devote his life to spiritual realization. This is the actual varnasrama-dharma system
- According to the system of varnasrama-dharma, the pious and learned brahmanas were the natural guardians of society
- According to varnasrama-dharma, that not only by birth - before birth, when the father and mother is going to be combined to beget a child, there are cultural samskara, or reformatory measures
- According to Vedic civilization, one has to give up family life at a certain age (the age of fifty), take vanaprastha and eventually remain alone as a sannyasi. That is the prescribed method of Vedic civilization known as varnasrama-dharma
- According to Vedic system, unless the human society comes to the institution of varnasrama-dharma, they are not to be accepted as human society. The system, the whole system was to gradually educate people to be elevated to the spiritual platform
- Actually, unless there is this varnasrama-dharma, the classification of brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, that is not civilized form of life
- Again we come to that varnasrama-dharma
- All the Manus offered their prayers as follows: As Your order carriers, we are the law-givers for human society, but because of the temporary supremacy of this great demon, Hiranyakasipu, our laws for maintaining varnasrama-dharma were destroyed
- All this service (to country, people and society, the varnasrama-dharma system, the sick, the poor, the rich, women, demigods and so on) comes under the heading of sense gratification, or enjoyment in the material world
- Among the four yugas-Satya, Treta, Dvapara and Kali-the Kali-yuga is the worst, but if the process of varnasrama-dharma is introduced, even in this age of Kali, the situation of Satya-yuga can be invoked
- Arjuna is a ksatriya, and as such he is participating in the varnasrama-dharma institution. It is said in the Visnu Purana that in the varnasrama-dharma, the whole aim is to satisfy Visnu. BG 1972 purports
- Aryan civilization means this varnasrama-dharma, four varnas, four asramas. And non-Aryan means there is no division. Everyone is one or equal. That is advocated now at the present moment
- As varnasrama-dharma is executed from different positions by different men, so the Krsna consciousness principles can be followed by everyone in every part of the world
- At such a time a devotee makes friends with another devotee, and his engagement in material activities ceases completely. At that time, he attains the favor of the Lord and loses his faith in material civilization, which begins with varnasrama-dharma
- At the present moment we are not happy. This social system, observing the varnasrama-dharma, was so perfectly made as the king would see that they are actually being executed
B
- Because the varnasrama-dharma is lacking, nobody is being educated as a brahmana
- Because they are missing the aim of life, they are committing suicide. And this varnasrama-dharma was planned in such a way that everyone would be spiritually advanced
- Beginning of human civilization is this varnasrama-dharma. The Vedic system is varnasrama-dharma
C
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu advises that we not worry about the Vedic system of varnasrama-dharma
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu replied that it is very difficult in this age to execute the rules and regulations of varnasrama-dharma
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu's teaching is so sublime that such things (varnasrama-dharma), which is the beginning of human life, that is also unnecessary
- Chanting will go on. That is not stopped. But at the same time the varnasrama-dharma must be established to make the way easy
- Considering the position of devotional service and the sankirtana movement, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu deemed the system of varnasrama-dharma to be material, although it aims at elevation to the spiritual platform
D
- Dharma is not a kind of faith, religion is not a kind of faith, but it is a duty, varnasrama-dharma. So that duty we are forgetting, and therefore we are coming to the level of animals
- Dharma means occupational duty. Just like according to Vedic culture, we are supposed to follow the varnasrama-dharma. It has become very ambiguous at the present moment, Hindu dharma. There is no such thing as Hindu dharma mentioned
- Discharging one's specific duty in any field of action in accordance with varnasrama-dharma serves to elevate one to a higher status of life. BG 1972 purports
- Don't try to make economic development, dharmartha-kama-moksa (SB 4.8.41). Don't try to become a religious person also. Religious person means strictly following the rules and regulation of varnasrama-dharma. That is called religious
E
- Even though saintly persons are always aloof from society, out of mercy and compassion they consider how the citizens can peacefully execute their rituals and follow the rules and regulations of varnasrama-dharma
- Everywhere, but in India especially, people should know that the real religion is this Vedic system. Vedic religion means varnasrama-dharma. Krsna says - God says - catur-varnyam maya srstam - BG 4.13
F
- First of all, you must become graduate, then you should take entrance in the law college, then you must learn. So what is God, that is the inquiry, but it requires training. And that is Vedic dharma, varnasrama-dharma
- First-class brain means to realize self, to understand God, and do accordingly. This is required. This is called varnasrama-dharma
- First-class education, without any fee, from the realized soul - that was educational system, varnasrama-dharma. So we have to find out such guru, Vaisnava
- Follow the rules and regulations of varnasrama-dharma. That was the concern of these sages. In this age of Kali, everything is disturbed. Saintly persons should take to the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra, as recommended in the sastras
- For this purpose there is the varnasrama-dharma, composed of four varnas and four asramas. Unless society is divided into these eight categories, it is simply an animal civilization. There must be some systematized, regulated arrangement
- Foreseeing the degraded condition of Kali-yuga, Lord Krsna hardly discusses varnasrama religion in the Bhagavad-gita and instead stresses the performance of work as sacrifice
- Forget good government for millions of years, unless you establish this varnasrama-dharma
- Formerly, the people of India (now misnamed as "Hindus") followed varnasrama-dharma or sanatana-dharma, the system that organizes human affairs according to four social orders and four spiritual orders
- Formerly, the varnasrama-dharma was prominent, and everyone had a particular duty according to his position in society
- Four orders of spiritual life and four orders of material life, brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra. This is called varnasrama-dharma. So India, it is especially practiced, India
- Four varnas: brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra; and four asramas: brahmacari, grhastha, vanaprastha, and sannyasa. These are called varnasrama-dharma. So in every varna, brahmana, his qualification is described in the sastra
H
- He (Caitanya) rejected the idea of the importance of varnasrama-dharma when it was put forward by Ramananda Rai. He said that this advancement of varna and asrama is merely external
- He (Lord Rsabhadeva) ruled the people according to the system of varnasrama-dharma, which enjoins that the brahmanas instruct the ksatriyas and the ksatriyas administer to the state through the vaisyas and sudras
- He (Ramananda Raya) said first of all that human life is meant for approaching Lord Visnu through the rules and regulations governing varnasrama-dharma
- He (Srila Haridasa Thakura) had every right to enter the temple of Jagannatha Puri, but because there were some rules and regulations stipulating that only brahmanas, ksatriyas, vaisyas and sudras (members of the varnasrama-dharma system) could enter
- He taught good behavior for everyone, especially for householders, in terms of varnasrama-dharma. Thus He taught the general public by His personal activities
- Herein (SB 1.2.13) the statement of Bhagavatam is that the highest aim of life or the highest perfection of the institution of the varnasrama-dharma is to cooperate jointly for the satisfaction of the Supreme Lord
- Hindu dharma or Vedic dharma means varnasrama-dharma. One must first of all accept the principles of varnas and asrama. Then there is question of understanding God
- How can the peaceful varnasrama-dharma be revived when people are so harassed in this age? It is virtually impossible. Therefore the system of bhakti-yoga, the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, should be adopted
- Human civilization begins from the stage of varnasrama-dharma, or specific duties in terms of the specific modes of nature of the body obtained. BG 1972 purports
- Human life must be divided into four orders, varnasrama-dharma
- Human society is divided into four social orders of life and four spiritual divisions, applying to each and every individual person. This system is called varnasrama-dharma and has already been discussed in many places in this great literature
- Human society is meant to follow strictly the varnasrama-dharma, which divides society into four social divisions (brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra) and four spiritual divisions - brahmacarya, grhastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa
- Human society is naturally grouped into four divisions, as stated in Bhagavad-gita - catur-varnyam maya srstam guna-karma-vibhagasah - BG 4.13
I
- I have traveled all over the world so many times. Because there is no varnasrama-dharma, how loose they are. That has been experimented. I have seen
- If a society does not function according to such natural divisions (varnasrama), the social orders become degraded. The conclusion is that the scientific method of varnasrama-dharma should be adopted by society
- If it does not observe the institutional functions of the four social orders (varnasrama-dharma), human society is no better than animal society in which there is never tranquillity, peace and prosperity but only chaos and confusion
- If one works according to the varnasrama-dharma system and does not desire fruitive results, he gets satisfaction gradually
- If the process of varnasrama-dharma is introduced, even in this age of Kali, the situation of Satya-yuga can be invoked. The Hare Krsna movement, or Krsna consciousness movement, is meant for this purpose
- If the Varnasramadharma can be instituted it is welcome, but it is a little difficult today to do. If it can be done we want that. Training is required
- If there is no such institution as varnasrama-dharma and if human society has no such guide as the brahmana, human society will be hellish
- If we execute this varnasrama-dharma rightly, then we gradually make progress towards spiritual realization. It is so arranged in that way, brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra, not by birth but by qualification
- If we want to establish Vedic civilization, then we must follow strictly the principles of Vedas as it is described in the Bhagavad-gita. And if it is practiced, then daiva-varnasrama-dharma. That is required
- If you become Krsna conscious seriously, then you jump over all these steps (varnasrama-dharma, sannyasa, varna-tyaga, karma-tyaga) you go immediately. That lift and the staircase. By staircase you go step by step; by lift you can go immediately, faster
- In Kali-yuga, the first attack of the venomous snake strikes against the God-made varnasrama-dharma, & thus a person properly qualified as a brahmana is called a sudra, & a sudra by qualification is passing as a brahmana, all on a false birthright claim
- In many places in Bhagavad-gita, the Supreme Lord, Krsna, refers to the varnasrama-dharma of four varnas and four asramas
- In order to organize society, Krsna recommends the varnasrama-dharma. There must be ideal brahmanas, ksatriyas, vaisyas and sudras. However, no one cares about this now
- In order to satisfy Him (Visnu), there is no other way than to act according to the tenets of varnasrama-dharma. This is the beginning of civilization. Without accepting this division of varnas, that is animal society; everything is chaos
- In our society we want to establish divine society. Therefore there is need of all classes of men and all classes of social orders. Our Vedic conception is varnasrama-dharma
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.8) it is also said: If one executes the occupational duties of varnasrama-dharma but does not cultivate his dormant Krsna consciousness, his activities are futile. His occupation simply becomes unnecessary labor
- In studying the Vedas, and in partaking of the social institution called varnasrama-dharma. All of these are known as sacrifice, and all of them are based on regulated action. BG 1972 purports
- In the Aryan system there is varnasrama-dharma, by which everyone should be educated according to his position in society's division of varna (brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra) and asrama - brahmacarya, grhastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa
- In the BG there are different instructions for men of different categories & there are various descriptions for varnasrama-dharma, sannyasa-dharma, yati-dharma, the renounced order of life, controlling the senses, meditation, perfection of mystic powers
- In the human society there must be a system of division. That is called varnasrama-dharma. That is Vedic civilization. That is really called Arya-samaja
- In the institution of varnasrama-dharma, the symptoms of a brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra, brahmacari, grhastha, vanaprastha, and sannyasi are all described
- In the land of Bharata-varsa, the institution of varnasrama-dharma may be easily adopted
- In the land of Bharata-varsa, the institution of varnasrama-dharma may be easily adopted. At the present moment, certain demoniac sections of the population of Bharatavarsa are disregarding the system of varnasrama-dharma
- In the material world this (varnasrama dharma) is practiced according to sastric injunction, and in the spiritual world the real achievement is already there
- In the planet known as Bharata-varsa there are many rivers and mountains, as there are in other tracts of land, yet Bharata-varsa has special significance because in this tract of land there exists the Vedic principle of varnasrama-dharma
- In the previous chapter (of SB 9.10) it was said that the prajas, the citizens, strictly followed the system of varnasrama-dharma. The brahmanas acted exactly like brahmanas, the ksatriyas exactly like ksatriyas, and so on
- In the system of varnasrama-dharma there are various duties for the brahmanas, ksatriyas, vaisyas and sudras
- In the system of varnasrama-dharma, which is the beginning of actual human life, small boys after five years of age are sent to become brahmacari at the guru's asrama
- In the varnasrama-dharma, the sudra is the fourth division in the social status. Paricaryatmakam karma sudrasyapi svabhava-jam (BG 18.44). Sudras are meant to engage in the service of the three higher classes - brahmanas, ksatriyas and vaisyas
- In the varnasrama-dharma, the ultimate goal is to worship Lord Visnu, whose name is Yajna. Out of many names of Lord Visnu, one name is Yajna, Yajna-purusa. So yajna, to . . . anything performed to satisfy the Supreme Lord, that is called yajna
- In the Vedic literature the principles or the institute followed by the inhabitants of Bharatavarsa is called varnasrama-dharma. That is real occupation
- In this age, however, since the system of varnasrama-dharma is topsy-turvy, it is very difficult to strictly follow all the principles. The only method for becoming perfect in life is to develop Krsna consciousness
- In this material world everyone is engaged in some particular occupational duty which is prescribed in the varnasrama-dharma
- In Western countries we have seen many women very unhappy simply for the sake of independence. That independence is not recommended by the Vedic civilization or by the varnasrama-dharma
- It (the supreme occupational duty) is properly discharged in the varnasrama-dharma system, which divides society into brahmacarya, grhastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa and brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra. This is the whole scheme of Vedic civilization
- It (Varnasrama-dharma) is an institution established by Brahma from the beginning of the creation. This is also confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita 4.13
- It (varnasrama-dharma) is not a Hindu system, for the word "Hindu" is a name given by the Muslims and does not occur in any Vedic literature. However, the varnasrama-dharma is mentioned
- It is necessary that all over the world this varnasrama-dharma, according to Bhagavad-gita, must be established. I am therefore trying to get these boys and girls married. This is the system of varnasrama-dharma
- It is said that varnasrama-dharma is external, and Caitanya Mahaprabhu requested Ramananda Raya to proceed deeper into the matter and uncover the spiritual platform
- It is very difficult to be a brahmana in this age, and it is practically impossible to revive the old varnasrama-dharma culture. Caitanya Mahaprabhu therefore said that this method (varnasrama-dharma) is not very practical
- It is very difficult to rule citizens in a kingdom without organizing this varnasrama-dharma
K
- Kriya means varnasrama-dharma, everyone is engaged in his own work. Brahmana is engaged in his own work. Ksatriya is engaged in his own work. That is all right. But the ultimate goal should be hari-tosanam
- Krsna teaches people about this varnasrama-dharma so that all of human society can live peacefully by observing the principles for the four social divisions and four spiritual divisions (varna and asrama) and thus make advancement in spiritual knowledge
M
- Maharaja Priyavrata would not have to fight, for simply because of his strong determination, they dared not disobey the rules and regulations of varnasrama-dharma
- Maharaja Prthu was personally checking whether people are following the varnasrama-dharma
- Materialistic activities are regulated by the institution of varnasrama-dharma. Without varnasrama-dharma, materialistic activities constitute animal life
- Mayavadis greatly fear the Krsna consciousness movement and accuse it of spoiling the Hindu religion because it accepts people from all parts of the world and all religious sects and scientifically engages them in the daiva-varnasrama-dharma
N
- Naturally Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was asking Ramananda Raya about the execution of devotional service. Ramananda Raya first enunciated the principle of varnasrama-dharma in consideration of materialistic people
- Now people are surprised: "How these people have become such great devotees." So it was not based on varnasrama-dharma, no, because the whole movement is spiritual. It starts from the spiritual platform, aham brahmasmi
- Nowadays India, like the rest of the world, has also given up the real religious system - sanatana-dharma, or varnasrama-dharma. In India they have accepted a hodgepodge thing called "Hinduism." So there is trouble
O
- Occupational duties are known as varnasrama-dharma and apply to the four divisions of material and spiritual life - namely brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra, and brahmacarya, grhastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa
- On the bodily plane svadharma is called varnasrama-dharma, or man's steppingstone for spiritual understanding. BG 1972 purports
- On the failure of varnasrama-dharma, naturally the women become free to act and mix with men, and thus adultery is indulged in at the risk of unwanted population. BG 1972 purports
- Once the populace is situated in the varnasrama-dharma, there is every possibility of real life and prosperity both in this world and in the next
- One is made brahmacari, celibacy, spiritual. One is made a very decently, family life, grhastha. One is made retired life, sannyasi. Very systematical. So if we don't follow the varnasrama-dharma, then we are not even human beings
- One must be intelligent enough to see God. Now, this bird I do not see, but I am hearing the sound. So one must know there is a nice bird. Because the varnasrama-dharma is lacking, nobody is being educated as a brahmana. They have lost all knowledge
- One should be brought to sattva-guna by the establishment of varnasrama-dharma & should develop the brahminical qualifications of being very neat & clean, rising early in the morning & seeing mangala-aratrika. In this way, one should stay in sattva-guna
- One should work only for satisfying Yajna, or Visnu. The perfectional form of human civilization, known as varnasrama-dharma, is specifically meant for satisfying Visnu
- One who has surpassed the rules and regulations of varnasrama-dharma is called avadhuta. Such a person has already surpassed the clutches of maya, and he lives completely separate and independent
- Our Vedic system is to first of all train a boy as a brahmacari - no sex life. The Vedic principle is to reduce attachment, not to increase it. Therefore the whole system is called varnasrama-dharma
- Our Vedic system is to train the human being to the ultimate goal of his life. That system is called varnasrama-dharma, gradually training the person how to become perfect human being
- Out of many, many thousands and millions of people, one takes to the scientific institute of varnasrama-dharma. That means followers of the Vedas, strictly
R
- Ramananda Raya referred to the execution of varnasrama-dharma, and Lord Caitanya indicated that the varnasrama-dharma was simply external - eho bahya
- Ramananda recommended varnasrama-dharma, sannyasa, the renunciation of work, and so many other methods, but Lord Caitanya said - No, all of these are not so good
- Ramananda replied (Caitanya) with this verse (CC Madhya 8.60) from the Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.27), which instructs that while remaining in the system of varnasrama-dharma one may offer the results of his activities to Lord Sri Krsna in loving service
- Real name is Varnasrama-dharma
- Real planning is this varnasrama-dharma
- Real Vedic dharma is sanatana-dharma, varnasrama-dharma
- Real, our real Vedic dharma is varnasrama-dharma. That is mentioned in every Vedic literature - in Puranas, in Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita, in Ramayana, Mahabharata
S
- So this is called varnasrama-dharma. The word dharma is used. Dharma means occupational duty. Dharma does not mean some religious sentiment. No. Natural division and the occupational duty
- So when one is fully equipped in knowledge, then he asks his wife to go to home to be taken care of by the elderly children, and he becomes a sannyasi. This is called varnasrama-dharma
- So, there is a process how to appreciate, how to become qualified to appreciate, and that system is called varnasrama-dharma, to divide the whole human society into four classes of men: the brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra
- Social customs, scriptural injunctions, bodily demands, fruitive action, shyness, patience, bodily pleasures, self-gratification and the path of varnasrama-dharma, which is difficult to give up - the gopis have forsaken all these
- Some kind of yajna must be performed to fulfill the desires of the living entity. Yajnas can be performed in human society only when society is divided by varnasrama-dharma into four varnas and four asramas
- Sometimes in disguise the king used to see whether this varnasrama-dharma is being maintained, properly being observed, whether somebody is simply wasting time like hippies
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu advises that we not worry about the Vedic system of varnasrama-dharma. Rather, we should take directly to the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra and simply hear about the Supreme Personality of Godhead from pure devotees
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu rejected that kind of sannyasa (that by accepting sannyasa one becomes Narayana). But the acceptance of sannyasa is one of the items of the varnasrama-dharma. How then can it be rejected
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu speaks clearly of one's becoming liberated from the varnasrama-dharma, the most exalted system of human civilization. At such a time one feels himself to be perpetually the servant of Lord Krsna
- Strictly following the cult of varnasrama-dharma, the inhabitants of those islands, who are known as Srutidharas, Viryadharas, Vasundharas and Isandharas, all worship the expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead named Soma, the moon-god
- Such a person (one who does not care for social conventions, particularly the varnasrama-dharma) may be situated fully within himself and be satisfied with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, on whom he meditates
- Such divisions (of human society in varnasrama-dharma) are in terms of educational qualifications. They are to keep the society in a state of peace and prosperity. BG 1972 purports
T
- That (varnasrama dharma) is a routine division of life, but persons like Dhrtarastra, even at their weary ripened age, want to stay home, even in a degraded condition of accepting charity from enemies
- That is real Vedic culture, how to create brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra, brahmacari, grhastha, vanaprastha, sannyasa - eight. This is called varnasrama-dharma
- That is very essential, the varnasrama-dharma, because we must have the aim of life. At the present moment there is no aim of life. The aim of life is sense gratification, that's all. Indriya-trpti. That is forbidden in the sastra
- That, I have already described it. It is not a sectarianism like Muslimism, Christianism or this-ism. Hinduism also now one of them. Actually, it is a way of life, varnasrama-dharma, how to become elevated to the spiritual platform
- The actual Vedic system of religion is called varnasrama-dharma
- The animals, they have no regulative principles, but human society must follow regulative principles. That is called varnasrama-dharma
- The beginning of human life is to execute the varnasrama-dharma
- The brahmanas, the ksatriyas, the vaisyas, the sudras, the brahmacari, the grhastha, the vanaprastha, and the sannyasi - this is called varnasrama. This is the form of human civilization
- The citizens, being skinny due to hunger, approached the King (Prthu) and informed him that necessary action should be taken. The structure of the varnasrama-dharma was so nice that the brahmanas would guide the head of state
- The climax of the system of varnasrama-dharma, or sanatana-dharma, is clearly expressed here in this particular verse (SB 2.6.20) of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- The divisions of brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra are natural divisions within society. Indeed, everyone has a prescribed duty according to the varnasrama-dharma
- The followers of varnasrama-dharma - they never tried for economic development. You'll find in India, still, millions of people taking bath in the Ganges during Kumbha-mela. Have you have been to the Kumbha-mela festival
- The four orders of human society, combined with family welfare activities as they are set forth by the institution of the sanatana-dharma or varnasrama-dharma, are designed to enable the human being to attain his ultimate salvation. BG 1972 purports
- The institution which gives such training is called varnasrama-dharma, or the system of sanatana-dharma, the best procedure for making the human life perfect
- The king should be ideal, as here it is, paramahamsa. Mahanubhavah. So, and the praja should be also strictly following varnasrama-dharma. Then this world will be happy. Otherwise it is not possible
- The king, or government head has to see that the citizens are engaged. The state or the government must not deviate from its duty by declaring that the state is a secular one which has no interest in whether or not the people advance in varnasrama-dharma
- The Krsna consciousness movement is being propagated all over the world to reestablish the varnasrama-dharma system and thus save human society from gliding down to hellish life
- The life is meant for, human life, for satisfying God. That is going on under religious system, and the Vedic civilization is called varnasrama-dharma
- The life of a human being is a chance to prepare oneself to go back to Godhead, or to get rid of the material existence, the repetition of birth and death. Thus in the system of varnasrama-dharma every man and woman is trained for this purpose
- The Lord (Caitanya) has said that the varnasrama-dharma is not properly executed in this Age of Kali; therefore He ordered Ramananda Raya to go further into the matter
- The main point is that everyone should be trained in the system of varnasrama-dharma so that the money is spent only for good causes and nothing else
- The material world is conducted by three gunas, means the quality of goodness, the quality of passion, the quality of ignorance, and mixed. So first, second, third, and the mixed is called fourth. That is called varnasrama
- The path of salvation or the path going back to Godhead always forbids the association of women, and the complete sanatana-dharma or varnasrama-dharma scheme forbids or restricts association with women
- The people must follow the varnasrama-dharma, and the king must see that they are following it nicely
- The perfectional form of human civilization, known as varnasrama-dharma, is specifically meant for satisfying Visnu. Therefore, Krsna says in this verse (BG 9.24), "I am the enjoyer of all sacrifices because I am the supreme master." BG 1972 purports
- The persons who follow these four orders of social status and four orders of spiritual advancement, they are called varnasrama. So Hindu religion is a miscalculation. Really, they are called varnasrama-dharma. That is the Vedic term
- The process of approaching and understanding the Supreme Personality of Godhead was also discussed between Ramananda Raya and Caitanya Mahaprabhu. First, Ramananda Raya explained the process in terms of varnasrama-dharma
- The Puranas and other Vedic literatures set forth four asramas, which are the divisions of spiritual life. Therefore bhagavata-dharma means the varnasrama-dharma of the four social and four spiritual divisions
- The real aim is to go back to home, back to Godhead, Visnu. So this is the process. If we execute varnasrama-dharma rightly, then we gradually make progress towards spiritual realization

- The Supreme Personality of Godhead instituted varnasrama-dharma to give human beings a chance to return home, back to Godhead

- The varnasrama-dharma mentioned here is essential for human civilization. Unless there is a brahmana to guide, a ksatriya to rule perfectly, and a perfect vaisya to produce food and protect the cows, how will people live peacefully? It is impossible
- The varnasrama-dharma system is scientifically arranged by Krsna to provide facility for delivering the fallen souls back to home, back to Godhead. And if we make a mockery of this system by whimsically disrupting the order, that we must consider

- This is the power of hari-sankirtana. If one is absorbed in Krsna consciousness, so all benefit is there. So long in the bodily concept of life, we require this varnasrama-dharma. Otherwise there is no necessity

U

- Unless human society is regulated by varnasrama-dharma, it is no better than a bestial society of cats and dogs
- Unless one becomes devotee, one has to follow this varnasrama-dharma. This is the idea. Caitanya Mahaprabhu is speaking from the devotional platform. He did not say when He was actually acting as a brahmin in Navadvipa
- Unless one comes to this standard of civilization, varnasrama-dharma, that is animal civilization. So we prefer animal civilization. Therefore we are living like animal also, fighting like cats and dogs and suffering like cats and dogs also
