- A man who was expert in palmistry was at that time staying with the landlord. Knowing about Sanatana, he whispered the following in the landlord's ear

- Caitanya replied: I do not understand why Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya so much appreciated My explanation. As far as I am concerned, I don't even remember what I said to him. because you (Sanatana) are asking Me, I shall try to explain whatever I can remember
- Caitanya requested Sanatana Gosvami to write down the symptoms of a true guru and the symptoms of a true devotee
- Caitanya said: Sanatana Gosvami is one of the associates of Krsna. There could not be any bad odor from his body. On the first day I embraced him, I smelled the aroma of catuhsama (a mixture of sandalwood pulp, camphor, aguru and musk)
- Caitanya sang a nice song about the opulences of Krsna, and Sanatana Gosvami listened. All the pastimes of Krsna are exactly like the activities of human beings," the Lord sang. Therefore it is to be understood that His form is like that of a human being

- Candrasekhara came out to see the man, but he saw no Vaisnava at the door. He saw only a man who appeared to be a mendicant. The Lord then asked to see the mendicant, and when Sanatana entered the courtyard, Caitanya hurriedly came to see and embrace him
- Candrasekhara offered a new set of garments to Sanatana Gosvami, but Sanatana did not accept them. When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu heard news of this, He became unlimitedly happy
- Candrasekhara replied, "There is a Muslim mendicant." Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu immediately said, "Please bring him here." Candrasekhara then spoke to Sanatana Gosvami, who was still sitting beside the door
- Candrasekhara then made Sanatana Gosvami look like a gentleman. He took him to bathe in the Ganges, and afterwards he brought him a new set of clothes
- Catching his hand, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu took Sanatana Gosvami inside and made him sit on an elevated place next to Him

- Dear Lord, let us inform you that no one is more sinful than us, nor is there any offender like us. Even if we wanted to mention our sinful activities, we would immediately become ashamed. And what to speak of giving them up
- Do not try to praise Me in that way, the Lord told Sanatana. Just try to understand the real nature of Srimad-Bhagavatam. Srimad-Bhagavatam is the sound representation of the Supreme Lord Krsna; therefore Srimad-Bhagavatam is not different from Krsna
- Due to envy, many asuras describe Krsna to be like a black crow or an incarnation of a hair. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu told Sanatana Gosvami how to counteract all these asuric explanations of Krsna
- Due to his long hair, mustache and beard, Sanatana Gosvami looked like a daravesa, or hippie. Since Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu did not like Sanatana Gosvami’s hippie features, he immediately asked Candrasekhara to get him shaved clean
- Due to the mercy of Lord Caitanya, Sanatana was able to put important questions before Him, and these questions were replied to properly

- Falling flat at the feet of Lord Caitanya, Sanatana Gosvami requested Him to explain the Atmarama verse as He had explained it to Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya. Sanatana explained his eagerness to hear the same explanation in order that he might be enlightened
- Folding his hands, Sanatana Gosvami said, "My Lord, You ordered me to write a directory about the activities of Vaisnavas"

- I am a most lowborn person. I have no knowledge of good behavior. How is it possible for me to write authorized directions about Vaisnava activities
- I am a prisoner of the government, and I cannot go along the way of the ramparts. It will be very pious of you to take this money and kindly get me across this hilly tract of land
- I am depending on you to carry out so many of my activities, but you have given up your governmental duties to sit here at home
- "I am touching you just for My purification," the Lord (Caitanya Mahaprabhu) replied (to Sanatana Gosvami), "for you are a great devotee. By your devotional service you can deliver the whole universe and enable everyone to go back to Godhead"
- I came here to diminish my unhappiness by seeing Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, but the Lord did not allow me to execute what was in my mind
- "I do not know the mercy of Krsna," Sanatana replied (to Caitanya Mahaprabhu), "but I can understand that Your mercy upon me is causeless. You have delivered me from the entanglement of material life"
- I do not know what is beneficial for me or what is detrimental. Nonetheless, in ordinary dealings people consider me a learned scholar, and I am also thinking of myself as such
- I do not recall what I spoke in that connection, but if something comes to My mind due to association with you, I shall explain it
- I have heard that the residential quarters of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu are near the temple of Jagannatha. But I shall not have the power to go near the temple

- In fact, however, when Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu embraced the body of Sanatana Gosvami, by the Lord's touch alone there was manifested a fragrance exactly like that of sandalwood pulp

- Jagadananda Pandita offered obeisances to the Lord on behalf of Sanatana Gosvami. Then he gave the Lord the dust from the site of the rasa dance, along with the other gifts
- Jagadananda Pandita therefore gave Sanatana Gosvami the message from the Lord, "I am also coming to Vrndavana; please arrange a place for Me to stay"
- Jivera 'svarupa' haya - krsnera ‘nitya-dasa’ (CC Madhya 20.108). This will be further explained by the Lord Himself to Sanatana Gosvami

- Lord Caitanya said: "The stool and urine of the maintained child appear like sandalwood pulp to the mother. Similarly, when the foul moisture oozing from the sores of Sanatana touches My body, I have no hatred for him"
- Lord Caitanya smiled and said, "Listen, Haridasa and Sanatana. Now I am speaking the truth about how My mind is attached to you"
- Lord Caitanya taught Sanatana Gosvami in the line of disciplic succession. Sanatana Gosvami was a very learned scholar in Sanskrit and other languages, but until instructed by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu he did not write anything about Vaisnava behavior
- Lord Caitanya then introduced Candrasekhara and Tapana Misra to Sanatana, and Tapana Misra pleasantly invited Sanatana to dine with him

- My dear Raghunatha, on My order go to Vrndavana and live there under the care of Rupa and Sanatana Gosvamis

- My dear Sanatana, the sweet, attractive transcendental form of Krsna is so nice. Just try to understand it. Even a fractional understanding of Krsna's beauty can merge all three worlds in the ocean of love
- My dear Sanatana, the sweetness of Krsna's personality is just like an ocean of ambrosia. Although My mind is now afflicted by convulsive diseases and I wish to drink that entire ocean, the repressive physician does not allow Me to drink even one drop
- My dear Sir, You (Caitanya) do not have even a pinch of aversion to touching my (Sanatana's) body, which is in a horrible condition. Because of this offense, everything auspicious will be vanquished for me
- My dear Vaisnava, seeing a person like you is the perfection of one's eyesight, touching your lotus feet is the perfection of the sense of touch, and glorifying your good qualities is the tongue's real activity
- My Lord (Caitanya), please do not touch me (Sanatana Gosvami). I fall at Your lotus feet. I am the lowest of men, having been born of a low caste. Besides that, I have infections on my body
- My purpose in binding my head with the cloth has now been fulfilled because I have personally seen your uncommon love for Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu

- No one within the three worlds is sufficiently powerful to deliver us. You are the only savior of the fallen souls; therefore there is no one but You
- Now, by the Lord's mercy, Sanatana Gosvami questioned the Lord, and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu personally supplied the truth
- Now, due to your association, another meaning has awakened. It is due to your devotional service that these waves of meaning are arising
- Now, will You (Caitanya) please tell me (Sanatana Gosvami), 'Let whatever I have instructed all be fully manifested unto you.' By blessing me in this way, You will give me strength to describe all this

- O Muslim mendicant, please come in. The Lord is calling you. Sanatana Gosvami was very pleased to hear this order, and he entered Candrasekhara's house
- O Sanatana, I have definitively described the three purusa-avataras of Visnu. Now please hear from Me about the pastime incarnations
- O Sanatana, now hear from Me about the yuga-avataras, the incarnations for the millenniums. First of all, there are four yugas - Satya-yuga, Treta-yuga, Dvapara-yuga and Kali-yuga
- O Sanatana, now just hear about the incarnations who appear during the reign of each Manu (manvantara-avataras). They are unlimited, and no one can count them. Just hear of their source
- O Sanatana, please hear about the eternal form of Lord Krsna. He is the Absolute Truth, devoid of duality but present in Vrndavana as the son of Nanda Maharaja
- O Sanatana, you should broadcast the revealed scriptures on devotional service and excavate the lost places of pilgrimage in the district of Mathura
- Of all the gopis, Srimati Radharani is the topmost. Rupa Gosvami and Sanatana Gosvami are the most exalted servitors of Srimati Radharani and Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Those who adhere to their service are known as rupanuga devotees
- On the basis of scriptures like Srimad-Bhagavatam, which reveal these confidential directions, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu instructed Sanatana Gosvami regarding all the regular activities of a devotee
- On the pretext of bad health, Sanatana Gosvami remained home. Thus he gave up government service and did not go to the royal court
- On the way, Sanatana met his rich brother-in-law who was also in the government service and who offered him an excellent blanket, which he accepted at his special request. Then he parted from him and went on alone to see Caitanya Mahaprabhu at Benares
- On this very night I would have killed you and taken your coins. It is very good that you have voluntarily offered them to me. I am now relieved from such a sinful activity
- One day Jagadananda Pandita, having invited Sanatana to the nearby temple for lunch, finished his routine duties and began to cook

- Out of Your causeless mercy, You have delivered me from the materialistic path. Now, by the same causeless mercy, please tell me what my duty is

- Previously, a great sannyasi named Mukunda Sarasvati had given Sanatana Gosvami an outer garment
- Putting a straw in his mouth and bowing down, Sanatana Gosvami clasped the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and humbly spoke as follows

- Resuming His external consciousness, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu told Sanatana Gosvami, "I have not spoken of what I intended. Lord Krsna is very merciful to you because by bewildering My mind He has revealed His personal opulence and sweetness"
- Rupa and Sanatana were made the prime ministers of spreading sankirtana movement, the Caitanya cult. We are sitting in Rupa Gosvami's place. Officially, they become Muhammadan, but by the grace of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, they became Gosvami
- Rupa Gosvami and Sanatana Gosvami had practically become Mohammedans and had therefore changed their names to Dabira Khasa and Sakara Mallika, but Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself made them gosvamis
- Rupa Gosvami and Sanatana Gosvami were ministers, but they voluntarily accepted the mendicant’s life in order to humbly preach Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s message
- Rupa Gosvami replied, "Sanatana has now been arrested by the government of Hussain Shah. If You kindly save him, he can be liberated from that entanglement"

- Sanatana fell at the feet of the Lord and with great humility asked about his own real identity. "I am born of a lower family," Sanatana said
- Sanatana Gosvami also cheated the keeper of the prison house while going away to see Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and similarly Raghunatha dasa Gosvami also cheated his priest and left home for good to satisfy the Lord
- Sanatana Gosvami and Rupa Gosvami, they were the principal disciples of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, six Gosvami. Sri rupa sanatana bhatta raghunatha, sri jiva gopala bhatta dasa raghunatha
- Sanatana Gosvami approached Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, asking Him the question, - What I am? Why I am put into these threefold miserable condition of life
- Sanatana Gosvami approached the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, to ask Him why he was in a distressed condition. This is the position of all conditioned souls
- Sanatana Gosvami asked Caitanya, "Who am I?" In answer, the Lord replied - Actually you are a spirit soul, eternally part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, Krsna. Therefore you are His eternal servant. You belong to Krsna’s marginal potency
- Sanatana Gosvami attended to all of Jagadananda Pandita's needs. He begged in the area of Mahavana and brought Jagadananda all kinds of things to eat and drink
- Sanatana Gosvami backed away, but Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu caught him by force and embraced him
- Sanatana Gosvami concluded, "Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who knows everything - past, present and future - has forbidden me to commit suicide." He then fell down, touching the lotus feet of the Lord, and spoke to Him as follows
- Sanatana Gosvami continued, "Previously I have done much for you. Now I am in difficulty. Please return my goodwill by releasing me"
- Sanatana Gosvami decided to go to Vrndavana by the very forest path Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu had traversed
- Sanatana Gosvami fell at the feet of Lord Caitanya & prayed: My dear Lord, You have asked me to prepare the regulative principles of DS, but I belong to the lowest caste. I have no knowledge. I do not know how such an important task can be finished by me
- Sanatana Gosvami had come to see Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu at Jagannatha Puri during the month of April-May, and during the month of May-June Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu tested him
- Sanatana Gosvami inquired into all phases of devotional service, and Lord Caitanya taught him most confidentially from authoritative scriptures like Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Sanatana Gosvami is acarya, direct disciple of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He is taking shelter. He has already taken; therefore he said, krpa kari' yadi more kariyacha uddhara. He's already, he knows
- Sanatana Gosvami is ideal disciple and Lord Caitanya is the ideal teacher, and we should learn how to approach a teacher and what is the qualification of a teacher
- Sanatana Gosvami is proving himself that he's qualified disciple, and Lord Caitanya is accepting him that, You are just the suitable person; therefore I shall accept you as My disciple and teach you the science of Krsna consciousness
- Sanatana Gosvami is receiving the message of the spiritual world through the exigency of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- Sanatana Gosvami is teaching us that go to the proper spiritual master. He has come. He is not ordinary man, he is minister, so he cannot go to a cheater, to a bluffer. He has selected the right person, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- Sanatana Gosvami kept the temple very clean and in good repair. In front of it he erected a small hut
- Sanatana Gosvami met all the devotees of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and then, traveling by that same path, visited the places through which Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu had passed
- Sanatana Gosvami met Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu after the Lord’s return to Varanasi, where the Lord taught him for two months about the intricacies of Vaisnava philosophy and Vaisnava activities
- Sanatana Gosvami noted from Balabhadra Bhattacarya all the villages, rivers and hills where Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu had performed His pastimes
- Sanatana Gosvami observed the Dola-yatra ceremony with Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. In this way, his pleasure increased in the company of the Lord
- Sanatana Gosvami offered his obeisances and dandavats from a distant place, but Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu called him again and again to embrace him
- Sanatana Gosvami prayed for the Lord's confirmation that His teachings would actually evolve in his heart by His grace. Otherwise Sanatana knew that there was no possibility of his being able to describe the Lord's teachings
- Sanatana Gosvami prayed to Caitanya and said: If You will kindly give me some hints about the preparation of such a book on devotional service, it may be that I shall be qualified to write it
- Sanatana Gosvami said - You (Caitanya) are the teacher of Srimad-Bhagavatam, and You best know the meanings of the verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam. It is not possible for others to understand the confidential meanings of Srimad-Bhagavatam without Your mercy
- Sanatana Gosvami said to Caitanya: if You want me, who am nothing but a lame man, to dance, then please give me Your benediction by placing Your feet on my head
- Sanatana Gosvami said, "I am a very insignificant living entity. I am low and poorly behaved. How can I understand who is the incarnation for this Age of Kali"
- Sanatana Gosvami said, "I was born in a low family, and my associates are all low-class men. I myself am fallen and am the lowest of men. Indeed, I have passed my whole life fallen in the well of sinful materialism"
- Sanatana Gosvami said, "My dear Lord, I am a very lowborn person. Indeed, I am a servant to lowborn people; therefore I am very, very downtrodden. Nonetheless, You have taught me conclusions unknown even to Lord Brahma"
- Sanatana Gosvami said, "My dear Lord, You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, the son of Maharaja Nanda. All the Vedic literatures are vibrated through Your breathing"
- Sanatana Gosvami said, "My Lord, I have heard that previously, at the home of Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya, You explained the atmarama verse in eighteen different ways"
- Sanatana Gosvami said, "The color of the personality in whom the characteristics of the Lord are found is yellowish. His activities include the distribution of love of Godhead and the chanting of the holy names of the Lord"
- Sanatana Gosvami then humbly accepted his position as lower than a piece of straw, and symbolically holding some straw in his mouth, he fell down, clasped the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and submitted the following petition
- Sanatana Gosvami then requested the Lord, "Please personally tell me how I can write this difficult book about Vaisnava behavior. Please manifest Yourself in my heart"
- Sanatana Gosvami then told the Bengali mendicant, "My dear brother, please do me a favor. Trade me your quilt for this woolen blanket"
- Sanatana Gosvami then went to the house of Candrasekhara and sat down by the door. Understanding what was happening, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu spoke to Candrasekhara
- Sanatana Gosvami told the Muslim jailkeeper, "Dear sir, you are a saintly person and are very fortunate. You have full knowledge of the revealed scriptures such as the Koran and similar books"
- Sanatana Gosvami was a great devotee of the Lord, and he was directly instructed to spread the cult of bhakti by writing many books
- Sanatana Gosvami was a pure devotee of Krsna. A pure devotee has no business other than serving Krsna; consequently Krsna is always ready to help him. This benediction was given by Sri Caitanya to Sanatana, who was authorized to write Vaisnava smrti

- Sanatana observed the etiquette of Jagannatha’s temple by going along the beach to visit Lord Caitanya, although it was extremely hot due to the sun. He requested Jagadananda Pandita to give him permission to return to Vrndavana
- Sanatana replied, "I do not know who Krsna is. As far as I am concerned, I have been released from prison only by Your mercy"
- Sanatana said to Lord Caitanya: Although I am what is known in the world as a great learned man, I am in fact so much of a fool that I myself even think that I am learned
- Sanatana said to Lord Caitanya: You have accepted me as Your servant, and You have delivered me from the entanglement of material life. Now please tell me what my duty is in this liberated state
- Saying this, Sanatana Gosvami exchanged the blanket for the quilt. He then returned to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu with the quilt on his shoulder
- See the intelligent persons and convince them. Yad yad acarati sresthah (BG 3.21). Pick up the best man. Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He picked up the best men, Sanatana Gosvami, Rupa Gosvami. So His movement became successful
- Seeing Sanatana and Lord Caitanya acting thus, Candrasekhara was struck with wonder
- Seeing Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, both Haridasa Thakura and Sanatana Gosvami immediately fell flat like rods to offer obeisances. The Lord then lifted Haridasa and embraced him
- Shoulder to shoulder, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Sanatana Gosvami began to cry unlimitedly. Candrasekhara was very much astonished to see this

- Somehow or other Sanatana Gosvami reached Varanasi and met Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu at the house of Candrasekhara. By the order of the Lord, Sanatana Gosvami was cleanly shaved and his dress changed to that of a mendicant, or babaji
- Sometimes they write transcendental literatures about devotional service, and sometimes they hear about Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and spend their time thinking about the Lord

- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu continued, "Now hear, O Sanatana, about the result of devotional service, which is love of Godhead, life’s ultimate goal. One who hears this description will be enlightened in the transcendental mellows of devotional service"
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu embraced both Haridasa Thakura and Sanatana Gosvami and then got up and left to perform His noon duties
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu embraced Sanatana Gosvami by force. Thus the moisture oozing from the itching sores touched the transcendental body of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu felt unlimited happiness to observe Sanatana Gosvami's strict following of the principles of sannyasa. However, He repeatedly glanced at the woolen blanket Sanatana Gosvami was wearing

- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, "Srila Rupa Gosvami's elder brother, whose name is Sanatana Gosvami, is such a wise and learned scholar that no one is equal to him"
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu then asked Sanatana Gosvami, "How were you released from prison?" Sanatana then described the story from beginning to end
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu then placed His hand on Sanatana Gosvami's head and blessed him, saying, "Let all these instructions be manifested to you"
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu then remained silent for a moment. Finally, adjusting things within His mind, He again spoke to Sanatana Gosvami
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu then told Sanatana Gosvami about proper renunciation according to a particular situation, and the Lord forbade dry renunciation and speculative knowledge in all respects
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu told Sanatana Gosvami, "All My devotees who go to Vrndavana are generally very poor. They each have nothing with them but a torn quilt and a small waterpot. Therefore, Sanatana, you should give them shelter and maintain them"

- Tell him, I looked for him a long time, but I could not find any trace of him. He jumped in with his shackles, and therefore he was drowned and washed away by the waves
- That greatness of Lord Krsna is being described here by Lord Caitanya to His disciple, Sanatana Gosvami. Advaya-jnana-tattva, vraje vrajendra-nandana. Advaya-jnana-tattva. Advaya-jnana-tattva means He is Absolute. He is not relative

- The Lord (Caitanya) requested Nityananda Prabhu to stay there and broadcast the message of Krsna consciousness. The Lord also entrusted a similar preaching responsibility to Rupa Gosvami and Sanatana Gosvami
- The Lord (Caitanya) told Sanatana Gosvami that He had previously taught his younger brother, Rupa Gosvami, at Prayaga (Allahabad). The Lord assured Sanatana Gosvami that He had empowered Rupa Gosvami to spread the knowledge He had given him
- The Lord (Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu) told Sanatana, "I shall explain the chief lila-avataras." matsya, kurma, raghunatha, nrsimha, vamana varahadi - lekha yanra na yaya ganana
- The Lord Caitanya told Sanatana: Because you are spirit, you are not different from Krsna, and because you are only a minute particle of Krsna, you are different from Him
- The Lord Caitanya told Sanatana: Since you are between the material energy and the spiritual energy, your position is marginal. Belonging to the marginal potency of Krsna, you are simultaneously one with and different from Krsna
- The Lord described the ultimate stage of love of Godhead. Lord Caitanya said that such a description cannot be given very elaborately but that He had informed him (Sanatana Gosvami) as far as possible
- The Lord dispatched Sanatana Gosvami and Rupa Gosvami to Vrndavana to excavate and renovate the holy places and from there establish the cult of bhakti. Therefore Vrndavana was given to Sanatana Gosvami and Rupa Gosvami as their place of residence
- The Lord inquired (Sanatana Gosvami): "How did you get free from your custody? I understand that you were arrested." Sanatana then narrated the whole story of his release
- The Lord pointed out that because Sanatana was in Krsna consciousness, he was naturally, by the grace of Krsna, already conversant with everything
- The Lord replied, "I am touching you just to purify Myself, because by the force of your devotional service you can purify the whole universe"
- The Lord then placed His two hands on the heads of both of them, and in return they immediately placed the lotus feet of the Lord on their heads
- The Lord then told Sanatana: "It would not look good for you to be a mendicant and beg from door to door with such a valuable blanket on your body. It is contradictory and people would look on it with abhorrence"
- The Lord told Sanatana that Krsna is very merciful and is the deliverer of fallen souls. "He has saved you from Maharaurava," the Lord said
- The Lord told Sanatana: "You are intelligent enough, and you have now exhausted all your attraction for material wealth"
- The Lord was pleased by Sanatana's submissive behavior, and He replied, "You have already received benediction from Lord Krsna, and therefore you know everything and are free from all the miseries of material existence"
- The meeting of Sanatana Gosvami and Lord Caitanya teaches us that to understand spiritual subject matters one must approach a spiritual master like Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and make submissive inquiries
- The Nawab again arrested Sanatana Gosvami and kept him in prison. At this time, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu departed for Vrndavana from Jagannatha Puri
- The Nawab said, "I sent my physician to you, and he has reported that you are not diseased. As far as he could see, you are completely healthy"

- There (in Gupta Vrndavana) the following places are still visited: (1) the temple of the Sri Madana-mohana Deity, (2) the Keli-kadamba tree, under which Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu met Sanatana Gosvami at night
- There are many divine qualities (of a person in Krsna consciousness), but Lord Caitanya describes only some of them to Sanatana Gosvami
- There is no end to the expansions and incarnations of Krsna. Lord Caitanya explains some of them to Sanatana just to give him an idea of how the Lord expands and enjoys

- These discussions (between Sanatana Gosvami and Lord Caitanya) which are going on, that is only for how to get liberation from the four principles of material condition, janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi. That is called moksa, moksa, or liberation
- They (Rupa and Sanatana) changed their names to Sakara Mallika and Dabira Khasa. Practically they became Muhammadan. And in those days many other Muhammadans, they also became this follower of Caitanya cult, especially Haridasa Thakura

- They (Sanatana Gosvami & Rupa Gosvami) are not accepted in the society. They changed their name, Sakara Mallika and Dabira Khasa. But Caitanya Mahaprabhu picked them up and made them gosvamins. Gosvamins means they are great teachers, guru
- They carry only waterpots, and they wear torn quilts. They always chant the holy names of Krsna and discuss His pastimes. In great jubilation, they also dance
- They chanted, "Haraye namah krsna yadavaya namah, gopala govinda rama sri-madhusudana"
- They engage almost twenty-four hours daily in rendering service to the Lord. They usually sleep only an hour and a half, and some days, when they continuously chant the Lord's holy name, they do not sleep at all
- They passed two months in Vrndavana in this way. Finally they could no longer tolerate the unhappiness of separation from Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- They said, "Dear Lord, although the King of Bengal, Nawab Hussain Shah, is very respectful toward You, You have no other business here. Kindly depart from this place"
- They stayed in Sanatana Gosvami's cave, but Jagadananda Pandita would go to a nearby temple and cook for himself
- They would ask those returning from Vrndavana, "How are Rupa and Sanatana doing in Vrndavana? What are their activities in the renounced order? How do they manage to eat?" These were the questions asked
- Thinking his material position insignificant, Sanatana was prepared to become a mendicant. Appreciating the activities of Sanatana Gosvami, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu praised his action and thanked Krsna for His mercy upon him
- Thinking in this way, Sanatana went to the bank of the Ganges to bathe. While there, he saw that a mendicant from Bengal had washed his quilt and spread it out to dry

- This faith in Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu quite befits you. Unless you demonstrate it, how could I learn such faith
- This is real question: "What I am?" So Sanatana Gosvami's question is being answered by Caitanya Mahaprabhu, "Because you have this inquiry, this is the beginning of human life." If one is little inquisitive to know what I am, then his real life begins
- This verse (SB 1.7.10) had been previously explained to a great Vedantist known as Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya. After taking lessons from Lord Caitanya, Sanatana Gosvami referred to this incident and prayed to the Lord to again explain the Atmarama verse

- Upon making this decision (to retire from government service and join Lord Caitanya's sankirtana movement), the two brothers (Sanatana Gosvami and Rupa Gosvami) at once took steps to leave their material engagements
- Upon receiving this message from his two messengers, Rupa Gosvami immediately wrote a letter to Sanatana Gosvami saying that Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu had departed for Vrndavana
- Upon seeing Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the two brothers were overwhelmed with joy, and out of humility they began to cry. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu asked them to get up and assured them of all good fortune

- Walking and walking, Sanatana Gosvami finally arrived at a place called Hajipura. That evening he sat down within a garden
- We (Rupa and Sanatana) are the most fallen; therefore by showing us Your (Caitanya's) mercy, Your mercy is most successful. Let the power of Your mercy be exhibited throughout the entire universe
- We are very depressed at being unfit candidates for Your mercy. Yet since we have heard of Your transcendental qualities, we are very much attracted to You
- We can say, and prove it, that they are all fools and rascals from the spiritual point of view, because they do not know their identification. This is the first education: to know one's identification. That is being taught by Sanatana Gosvami & Caitanya
- What Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu cannot do with His personal body He wants to do through you, and He wants to do it in Mathura
- "Whatever I am doing to become free from material attachment is all Your mercy," Sanatana replied. The Lord was very much pleased with him, and both of them discussed spiritual advancement
- Whatever you say about Vaisnava behavior, the establishment of Vaisnava temples and Deities, and everything else should be supported by evidence from the Puranas
- When all the other devotees returned to Bengal after the Ratha-yatra festival, Sanatana Gosvami stayed under the care of the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- When Caitanya Mahaprabhu introduced the Maharashtrian brahmana to Sanatana, the brahmana immediately invited Sanatana Gosvami for full meals

- When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu inquired about Sanatana Gosvami, Rupa Gosvami replied, "I did not meet him"
- When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was thus chastising Jagadananda Pandita, Sanatana Gosvami fell at the Lord's feet and said, "I can now understand the fortunate position of Jagadananda"
- When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu went to Varanasi, He went there alone, not with a big party. Locally, however, He made friendships with Candrasekhara and Tapana Misra, and Sanatana Gosvami also came to see Him
- When Srila Rupa Gosvami returned from Jagannatha Puri to Bengal, Sanatana Gosvami went from Mathura to Jagannatha Puri to see Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- When Tapana Misra gave Sanatana Gosvami a used dhoti, Sanatana immediately tore it into pieces to make two sets of outer cloth and underwear
- When the Lord embraced him, Sanatana became overwhelmed with spiritual ecstasy, and he said, "My dear Lord, please do not touch me." But both of them embraced each other and began to cry
- When the Lord inquired, "By which path have you come?" Sanatana Gosvami replied, "I have come on the path along the beach"
- When the meat-eater saw the coins, he was attracted to them. He then agreed, and that night he cut Sanatana's shackles and let him cross the Ganges
- When the personal associates of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu would hear of the activities of Rupa and Sanatana Gosvamis, they would say, "What is wonderful for a person who has been granted the Lord's mercy"
- When the two brothers Srila Rupa Gosvami and Sanatana Gosvami went to Vrndavana, they decided to live there. Following Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s example, they did not climb the hill because they considered it nondifferent from Krsna, the SP of Godhead
- When they met, they had many conversations. Sanatana Gosvami told him in detail about his arrest and release
- When things are done for others, the verb form changes to kurvanti. Thus Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu informed Sanatana Gosvami that in the atmarama verse the verb kurvanti means that things should be done only for the satisfaction of Krsna
- When we add the twenty-six types of devotees to these thirty-two, they altogether number fifty-eight. You may now hear from Me of further manifestations of meanings
- "Where is your valuable blanket?" the Lord (Caitanya) immediately inquired (Sanatana Gosvami). Sanatana informed Him about the exchange, and the Lord loved him for this and thanked him
- While giving instructions to Sanatana Gosvami, Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu divided devotional service into three categories
- While he (Sanatana) was coming, his brother-in-law gave him a nice blanket. That was on the body of Sanatana. And Caitanya Mahaprabhu several times overlooked about that blanket
- While Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu was instructing Sanatana Gosvami, both Candrasekhara and Tapana Misra became very unhappy. Therefore they submitted an appeal unto the lotus feet of the Lord
- While Lord Caitanya was speaking to Sanatana Gosvami about the opulences of Krsna, He was deep in ecstasy, and in that transcendental state He cited a verse from Srimad-Bhagavatam
- While Rupa Gosvami was staying at Varanasi, he resided at the house of Candrasekhara and took prasadam at the house of Tapana Misra. In this way he heard of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's instructions to Sanatana Gosvami in Varanasi
- While Sanatana Gosvami was imprisoned in Bengal, a letter arrived from Srila Rupa Gosvami
- While Sanatana Gosvami was in Gauda-desa, he was thinking, "The Nawab is very pleased with me. I certainly have an obligation"
- While Sanatana Gosvami was studying Srimad-Bhagavatam in the assembly of learned brahmanas, one day the Nawab of Bengal and another person suddenly appeared
- While speaking of these things with Sanatana Gosvami, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu began to remember one thing after another. Moving His hands in ecstasy, He recited a verse
- Who am I? Why do the threefold miseries always give me trouble? If I do not know this, how can I be benefited
- Whoever hears these instructions given to Sanatana Gosvami by the Lord comes very soon to realize love of God, Krsna
- With great care, Srikanta gave him a woolen blanket and helped him cross the Ganges. Thus Sanatana Gosvami departed again
- With great difficulty I (Caitanya) went to the town of Ramakeli, where I met two brothers named Rupa and Sanatana

- You (Sanatana Gosvami) consider your body dangerous and awful, but I (Caitanya) think that your body is like nectar
- You (Sanatana Gosvami) have the power to convince even Me (Caitanya). In many places you have already convinced Me about ordinary behavior and devotional service
- You (Sanatana Gosvami) should also describe the process for offering arati and the worship of the Lord according to the list of five, sixteen or fifty ingredients
- You (Sanatana Gosvami) should also describe the symptoms of a Vaisnava and explain that one must give up or nullify all kinds of seva-aparadha, offenses in Deity worship
- You (Sanatana Gosvami) should describe the ritualistic duties to be performed every day, and you should also describe the fortnightly duties - especially how to observe the fortnightly Ekadasi fast
- You (Sanatana Gosvami) should recommend the avoidance of mixed Ekadasi and the performance of pure Ekadasi. You should also describe the fault in not observing Ekadasi
- "You are a suitable person to protect the devotional service of the Lord," Caitanya Mahaprabhu continued (saying Sanatana Gosvami). "Therefore it is My duty to instruct you in the science of God, and I will explain everything to you step by step"
- You are fit to propagate the cult of devotional service. Therefore gradually hear all the truths about it from Me. I shall tell you about them
- You are one of the chief associates of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Indeed, no one is dearer to Him than you
- You have spoiled all my activities. What is your intention? Please tell me frankly
- You have written several letters showing your humility. I can understand your behavior from those letters
- You should also describe how one should render service to the spiritual master and paint one's body in twelve places with urdhva-pundra (tilaka), as well as how one should stamp one's body with the holy names of the Lord or the symbols of the Lord
- You should also describe the duties to be observed every month, and you should especially describe the observance of ceremonies like Janmastami, Rama-navami and Nrsimha-caturdasi
- You should describe the symptoms of a devotee, how to associate with devotees, how to satisfy a devotee by rendering service, and how to give up the association of nondevotees. You should also explain the value of regularly hearing the recitation of SB
- You should discuss the qualifications necessary for receiving a mantra, the perfection of the mantra, the purification of the mantra, initiation, morning duties, remembrance of the Supreme Lord, cleanliness & washing the mouth & other parts of the body
- You should give general and specific descriptions of the behavior and activities of a Vaisnava. You should outline things that are to be done and things that are not to be done. All this should be described as regulations and etiquette
- You should glorify the holy name and explain that one must carefully give up offenses when chanting the holy name
- Your (Sanatana Gosvami's) body is My (Caitanya's) principal instrument for executing many necessary functions. By your body I shall carry out many tasks
- "Your constitutional position is that you are pure living soul," the Lord told Sanatana. "This material body cannot be identified with your real self; nor is your mind your real identity, nor your intelligence, nor false ego"
