The Vedic literatures firmly establish the absolute and eternal nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, confirming that God is always God. According to Śrīla Prabhupāda, a fundamental misconception of Māyāvādī philosophers and modern speculators is the belief that one can become God through meditation, penance, or mystic yoga. This concoction is entirely rejected by the Vedic authorities. God is not manufactured, nor is He a petty entity who falls down into illusion and must meditate to regain His position. He does not need to perform austerities to realize His divinity. Even when displaying His universal form or acting as the dwarf incarnation Vāmanadeva, He proves that God is God in any circumstance or stage of growth.

Materialists and demons, bewildered by ignorance, often harbor the desire to become God or even to kill God, much like the tyrannical Kaṁsa. They imagine that God-worship is anthropomorphic or that mere mortals can elevate themselves to the supreme status by their own endeavor. However, human imagination cannot create God. While a living entity can attain godly qualities to a certain extent, man is always man and God is always God. Therefore, the highest intelligence is to abandon the foolish endeavor of trying to become the Lord and instead surrender to the eternal Supreme Person who is never subject to material degradation.
