- A brahmacari or sannyasi is prohibited to associate with women, especially in a secret place. The sastras enjoin that one should not even talk to a woman in a secret place, even if she happens to be one's own daughter, sister or mother
- A brahmacari should be quite well behaved and gentle and should not eat or collect more than necessary. He must always be active and expert, fully believing in the instructions of the spiritual master and the sastra
- A brahmana cannot take up any professional occupational duty for his livelihood. The sastras especially stress that if one claims to be a brahmana, he cannot engage in the service of anyone; otherwise he at once falls from his position & becomes a sudra
- A brahmana does not become a brahmana simply because he is a living entity or is born in a brahmana family; he must possess all the qualities mentioned in the sastras and practice the brahminical principles in his life

- Day after day the symptoms increased, and at night they increased even more. All these symptoms, such as transcendental anxiety, agitation and talking like a madman, were present, just as they are described in the sastras
- Death is sure, and after death one must surely accept another body. We may not know what kind of body we shall get, but we can know from the sastra, the Vedic literature

- If you become aberrant to the injunction of the sastras, then na sukham savapnoti, you'll never get happiness. Na sukham, yah sastra-vidhim utsrjya vartate kama-karatah, na, na sa siddhim avapnoti. There is no question of siddhi, perfection
- If you become abhorrent to the injunction of the sastra, then, there is no question of siddhi, perfection, neither there is question of happiness, na sukham na param gatim, and what to speak of going back to home, back to Godhead. It is useless
- If you can mix copper, tin and mercury - this is stated in the sastra - you can make gold. It is not legend. The particular metals to be combined, that is stated: copper, tin and mercury. You mix, and there will be gold
- If you do not follow the injunction of the sastra, then your human life is unsuccessful. Na siddhim. Human life means that you stop the process of transmigration from one body to another
- If you do not take Krsna consciousness seriously in this human form of life, then you must know that you are drinking poison knowingly. Don't neglect it. Try to understand. It is based on science, philosophy, sastra, knowledge. It is not a blind faith
- If you do not try to understand what is your problem and if you do not try to solve them, then you are no better than the cats and dogs. This is the sastric injunction
- If you don't believe, then do anything you like. But from sastra we can understand the laws of nature, or God, is very, very strict, very, very strict

- In many sastras (scriptures) it is said that simply by hearing, remembering, glorifying, desiring, seeing, or touching the land of Mathura, one can achieve all desire

- Kamsa knew a little about Krsna - that He could not be killed - and therefore he attained salvation although he thought of Visnu, Krsna, as an enemy. What then is to be said of one who knows Krsna perfectly from the descriptions of sastras like BG?

- Krsna always protects the living entities in many ways. He comes Himself, sends His own confidential devotees, and leaves behind Him sastras. Why? It is so that people may take advantage of the benediction to be liberated from the clutches of maya
- Krsna Himself gives many hints about His potencies as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One should understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead only through the evidence presented by the sastras and the mahajanas
- Krsna is the origin of Lord Visnu. He should always be remembered and never forgotten at any time. All the rules and prohibitions mentioned in the sastras should be the servants of these two principles
- Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He refers to the Vedanta-sutra. Brahma-sutra-padais caiva hetumadbhir viniscitam (BG 13.5). So we cannot go beyond the sastra. We must follow
- Krsna's color is described there (in sastra). Krsna's peacock feather is described there. Krsna's flute is there. Krsna's ever-eternal consort . . . pranaya-keli. In loving mood always, Krsna. He's always in enjoying spirit. So we get idea of Krsna
- Krsna, when He was present personally, He played on His flute. The gopis saw and the cowherds boys saw five thousand years ago. And the acaryas took information. Even if you don't believe in the history, then come to sastra
- Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam: (SB 1.3.28) "Krsna Himself is the Supreme Personality of Godhead." The sastra explains what Bhagavan, or God, is, and how Krsna is Bhagavan

- Liberated sages like Narada and Vyasa, who are free from the four defects of conditioned souls, are the propagators of these scriptures. Narada Muni is the original speaker of the Pancaratra-sastra. Srimad-Bhagavatam is also considered a satvata-samhita
- Lord Krsna lived both in Vrndavana and in Mathura. What did He do there? Why did He kill Kamsa, His mother's brother? Such killing is not at all sanctioned in the sastras - SB 10.1.10
- Lord Siva was ordered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead to preach the impersonal, or Mayavada, philosophy for a particular purpose, just as Lord Buddha preached the philosophy of voidness for particular purposes mentioned in the sastras

- Many other sastras are there, but Bhagavad-gita is the beginning of spiritual life, A-B-C-D. So even if we do not learn the A-B-C-D of spiritual life, how our life will be successful in the mission?
- Mayavadi sannyasis always misinterpret all the sastras with their word jugglery and grammatical compositions
- Mayavadis think that in the spiritual world there are no relationships. However, in the sastras it is stated that in the spiritual world there is real life
- Meat-eaters, according to their different positions and the directions of the sastra, are allowed to eat flesh, but never the flesh of cows
- Medical man. Nobody asks him, "Are you a brahmin? Then I make my treatment with you." Nobody asks that. So this is the sastric injunction. Then later on this caste brahmanism, sudra-ism made the whole thing, whole Hindu culture, Vedic culture, spoiled
- Meditation means thinking of the Lord within. Whether one comes to that stage by the astanga-yoga system or by the method recommended in the sastras especially for this present age
- Mere sastra jnana, or knowledge in the Vedas, does not help anyone understand the Personality of Godhead. Only one who is favored or shown mercy by the Lord can understand Him
- Millions of moons together, they cannot be so peaceful and cool as the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda. These examples are given in the sastra
- Modern administrators raise subscriptions for some political functions, but never give charity to the citizens in any state function. It is just the reverse in the injunctions of the sastras
- Moon is only small. Actually smaller than the earth. So you can go on speculating, but so far we are concerned - it is coming from sastra - moon planet is one of the heavenly planets. The residents of that planet, they're all demigods
- My magnitude is very, very small. That is also given in the sastra: kesagra-sata-bhagasya satadha kalpitasya, one ten-thousandth part of the tip of the hair. That is my magnitude

- Narada Muni was very pleased with Dhruva Maharaja, & he could have at once personally given whatever he wanted, but that is not the duty of the spiritual master. His duty is to engage the disciple in proper devotional service as prescribed in the sastras
- Narada Muni, as their (Haryasvas) spiritual master, gave them the sastric instructions that they should give up this material world, and as bona fide disciples they followed his instructions
- Narada says that the symptoms of a brahmana, ksatriya and vaisya are all described in the sastra

- Nobody is competent to interpret on the Shastras by one's whim. It is science it has to be learnt from the proper sources
- None of these acaryas has disbelieved in the sastras
- Now we are so degraded that everyone, including the exalted scientists, philosophers and other leaders, is under the bodily conception of life, which is condemned in the sastras. Sa eva go-kharah: (SB 10.84.13) such persons are nothing but cows and asses
- Now, thanks to the machine, one does not even have to move his hand. So this is considered progress. However, we learn from the sastras that human life is not meant for sense enjoyment but for tapasya. That is Vedic civilization
- Nowadays in Kali-yuga the . . . some of the sannyasis, they are eating meat. Disastrous. So this kind of rascal sannyasism is prohibited in the sastra
- Nowadays it has become a fashion; everyone is becoming guru and he is giving his own opinion, "I think," "In my opinion." That is not guru. Guru means he should give evidences from sastra

- O son of a brahmana, today the fire of sacrifice is ablaze according to the injunction of the sastra, and I have been freed from all the sinful reactions of my life by the water that has washed Your lotus feet
- Of course, those who are Krsna’s servants cannot kill such imitation gods, but they should try their best to defeat them through the evidence of sastra, authentic knowledge received through the disciplic succession
- Once when Caitanya explained the glories of the transcendental potency of the Lord’s holy name, the HK maha-mantra, one unfortunate student said that such glorification of the holy name was an exaggeration in the sastras to induce people to take to it
- One can be killed if he comes to set fire to the home or to pollute or kidnap one's wife. Lord Ramacandra killed the entire family of Ravana because Ravana kidnapped His wife, Sitadevi. However, killing is not sanctioned in the sastras for other purposes
- One can reach the heavenly planets by the pious acts recommended in the sastras in the category of fruitive activities
- One can simply think about the form of the Lord and mentally offer everything recommended in the sastras, including flowers, candana pulp, conchshell, umbrella, fan and camara

- One cannot expect a very peaceful life within this material world. The sastra, the Vedic literature, says, padam padam yad vipadam (SB 10.14.58): at every step there is danger. But if one becomes a devotee, then one can escape - mayam etam taranti te
- One man paints a little different from your face; another man paints . . . but on the whole, it is the same. In that way Krsna is not depending on the painting but on the features of His description as it is in the sastra

- One who becomes agitated by the relativities of life has accepted a relative position and must therefore undergo the austerities prescribed in the sastras to transcend the material body and put an end to material existence
- One who disbelieves in the sastras is an atheist, and we should not consult an atheist, however great he may be
- One who disregards the injunctions of the sastras and acts whimsically, as he likes, never achieves the perfection of life, not to speak of happiness. Nor does he return home to the spiritual world

- The holy name of God, as recommended in the sastras - Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare - may be constantly chanted by the devotee aspiring to be constantly in touch with the Supreme Lord
- The idea is that anyone, after studying the books, who wants to gain the title of Bhakti-sastri, can take the exam. This is academic. Just like a brahmana with sastric knowledge and a brahmana without. It is optional - one who wants may take
- The idea that Lord Visnu is on the same level as the demigods is in contradiction to the sastras. The demigods are not supreme. The supremacy of the demigods is dependent on the mercy of Lord Narayana
- The incarnations of God are determined by authentic sastras and not by popular votes of foolish fanatics. Because Lord Caitanya was an incarnation of God in fact, foolish fanatics have proclaimed so many so-called incarnations
- The kanistha-adhikari, or the devotee in the lowest stage of Vaisnava life, has firm faith but is not familiar with the conclusions of the sastras

- The last incarnation of Krsna is Kalki. Kalki will come on this planet about 400,000's of years after. But his name and address is also given. Don't laugh. That is sastra, they can speak of future which will happen hundreds and millions of years after

- The sastras are accepted by the acaryas, the great teachers. And we get knowledge from the sastra. I may be imperfect, but I get knowledge from the perfect source. That is perfect knowledge

- The sastras state that the following bodily features indicate a great personality: fineness in five places - the skin, the hair on the head, the bodily hair, the teeth, and the fingertips. All these features are present in the body of the Lord
- The sastras state, smartavyah satatam visnuh: in devotional life one should always remember Lord Visnu. Srila Sukadeva Gosvami also advised Maharaja Pariksit, smartavyo nityasah
- The sastras strongly recommend: In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy the only means of deliverance is the chanting of the holy names of the Lord. There is no other way
- The sastras warn that if one thinks that the demigods are equal to Narayana, one is a pasandi, an atheist. We should not think that because we have become liberated, we have attained the position of Narayana

- Their (Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Nityananda Prabhu & Advaita Gosani's) so-called descendants who do not have the qualifications have accepted this title as a hereditary designation or a professional degree. That is not in accord with the sastric injunctions

- This description of the Kali-yuga is given in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. This is called sastra. This Srimad-Bhagavatam was written five thousand years ago when the Kali-yuga was to begin. Now, what will happen in future, everything is given there
- This form of marriage (giving bride in charity along with dowry) is prevalent among higher-class Hindus even today and is declared in the sastras to confer great religious merit on the bride's father
- This Govinda is the cause of all causes, and He is without any cause. This is the beauty of the Shastras, that one sloka finishes billions of years hard labor of mental speculation. Just try to give evidence like this
- This human life is meant for spiritual understanding, not for any other purpose. Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovidah (SB 1.5.18), sastra recommends. Only for spiritual understanding engage your activities

- Those who are devotees of the Lord, they are called Vaisnava or devata, and those who are not devotees of Visnu may be devotees of other demigods, but they are called the demons, or the asuras. There are many instances in the sastra
- Those who are engaged in understanding the self as the combination of these earth, water, air, fire - sa eva go-kharah (SB 10.84.13). Such persons are defined in the sastra as no more intelligent than the cows and the asses
- Those who are rascals, they think that "Krsna has two hands, two legs; therefore I am also Krsna. I am also." So don't be misled by the rascals, pasandi. Take as there in the sastra, learn it from authorized sources, and be happy
- Three things there are for knowledge: sadhu, saintly person; sastra, scripture; and guru. If you accept somebody as guru, then you have to corroborate it whether sastra says that he is guru or any saintly person says that he is guru
- Through the sastra the perception is better than direct perception. Therefore our knowledge, those who are following the Vedic principles, their knowledge is derived from the Vedas. They do not manufacture any knowledge
- To a good lady like Draupadi, the matter (of Asvatthama) was considered not from the angle of sastric vision, but as a matter of custom
- To accept knowledge from these rascals who commit mistake, who are illusioned, who are cheater, whose senses are imperfect, is useless waste of time. This is the sastric injunction
- To avoid being misled by an exhibition of mystic powers, it is best to examine a so-called incarnation of God in the light of the statements of the sastras

- Vaisnavas strictly follow the directions of the sastras regarding how one can be liberated simply by a slight awakening of pure chanting of the holy name. Mayavadis cannot tolerate the statements of the sastras about how easily liberation can be achieved
- Various sastras advise that for material convenience one should keep his wife always satisfied by giving her ornaments and by following her instructions. In this way there will be no trouble in family life
- Vedas; smrti, the Puranas and other literatures, dharma-sastra, smrti-sastra and Purana, pancarati-vidhi - without reference to all these authentic literature, any kind of devotional activities are not accepted by the Gosvamis
- Vedic civilization offers us all knowledge in the sastras, and if we live a regulated life under the direction of sastras and guru, all our material desires will be fulfilled; at the same time we will be able to go forward to liberation
- Verdict of Ayurveda sastra
- Vikarsato antar hrdayad, from the core of the heart. Now, from the sastra you can understand where the soul is. Soul is not in the brain or not in the here, there. Therefore when the soul is taken away, or goes away from the heart, we say, heart failure
- Viprad, brahmin, dvi-sad-guna, a brahmin not by birth but with quality. Guna-karma-vibhagasah. That is sastra. Sastra means, Lord Krsna says, catur-varnyam maya srstam guna-karma-vibhagasah
- Visvanatha Cakravarti . . . saksad dharitvena samasta-sastraih. He also refers to the sastra, not that he is opining by his own intellect. No. That is the speciality of learned scholars and devotees. They should immediately give evidence from the sastra
- Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura says, saksad-dharitvena samasta-sastrair uktah: all the sastras, the Vedic literatures, state that the spiritual master is to be honored as the SPG. Thus the idea that the spiritual master is as good as God is not bogus
- Vyasadeva says, that in future, kikatesu, in the province known as Gaya Pradesh, Lord Buddha will appear, and his father's name is this and his mother's name is this. This is called sastra

- We are accepting Krsna as God not blindly, but by testing. By testing. His character is mentioned in the books. Therefore, we accept God, not by blind faith, but by testing. Although we cannot test, but sastra gives us the chance of testing
- We are not manufacturing anything. Everything is there. Everything is there in the sastra. We do not invent anything. Yah sastra-vidhim utsrjya vartate kama-karatah (BG 16.23). The, we are trying to follow as far as possible, and we are teaching that
- We are taking authoritative version from the sastra. And we are . . . our program is to publish at least one hundred books of this size. There are so many information. They can read all these books and take information
- We are taking the conclusion of the sastra: in this age, if one chants Hare Krsna, he becomes spiritualized. That is becoming, practically. It is not theory

- We can particularly see how an incarnation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is ascertained by His bodily symptoms, His activities and the prediction of the sastras
- We can see through history also Bhagavan Sri Krsna and through sastra also. Sastra-caksusa. Just like at the present moment, Krsna is not physically present, but we understand through sastra what is Krsna
- We can speculate for many births, for many years, and yet not be able to understand the ultimate goal of life. Therefore the sastras all advise that we search out a guru
- We discussed this (characteristics of avatara are there in the sastra) point yesterday and today also, because it is important point, and further we shall discuss tomorrow
- We do not know how many births we had previously, but from the sastra we understand crores, many millions of times, we had to take birth. Therefore it is used, janma koti: not one birth or two birth or second birth or fifth birth
- We follow the sastras and we teach others to follow sastras
- We get from sastras: the so-called enemies of God who is killed by God, he also attains perfection
- We get information from Bhagavad-gita and other sastras that spiritual world is still bigger. This material world is the one fourth of the God's creation, and the spiritual world is the three fourth
- We get information from sastra, there is a fish which is called timingala which swallows big, big whales, just like big fish swallows a small fish. This is struggle for existence. Jivo jivasya jivanam. Phalguni mahatam tatra jivo jivasya jivanam
- We have got many sastric evidences how one can become completely sinless simply by chanting Hare Krsna maha-mantra and observing very strictly the four prohibitive rules and regulations
- We have heard from the sastras that Lord Krsna has multienergies and parts and parcels, but now, in that sacrificial arena, all could actually experience how the Supreme Personality of Godhead eternally exists with His different energies
- We have to accept sastra, how things are going on beyond our experience. Without that, we cannot have knowledge. That is called Vedic process. Sruti-jnanam. Sruti means hearing from authorities. That is real knowledge. Srotra-pantha
- We have to accept the Vedic injunction, sastric injunction, not nonsensical theories. If we are guided by nonsensical theories, then we'll never be able to understand how things are going on
- We have to consult sastra. What is our problem, we have to consult sastra. And sastra, how we can consult sastra. Sastra, we have to go somebody who knows sastra
- We have to follow the injunction of the sastra. We cannot manufacture our own ways of spiritual advancement. That is not possible
- We have to follow the sastra and the great saintly person. Otherwise there is no difference between omkara and Krsna. But because sastra recommends harer nama harer nama (CC Adi 17.21), we have to accept it
- We have to follow this (Srimad-Bhagavatam) sastra, which is beyond the deception of our material life. We have got four kinds of deceptions, deficiencies, we conditioned souls; but those who are liberated, they are above this - transcendental life
- We have to know actually from authentic sastra what is the actual thing. Sastra-caksusa. You don't see with your these blunt eyes, rascal eyes. We see through the sastra. That should be. That is real knowledge
- We have to learn from the authorized sastras, from the Bhagavad-gita, from Srimad-Bhagavatam, from Vedas, not from the rascals. Then you'll understand. Your real affection from Krsna will be awakened, and your life will be successful
- We have to make it confirmed in three ways. What we hear from the sadhus, we shall have to consult whether these things are spoken in the sastras. And whether the statements or sastras are confirmed by guru, by the direct spiritual master
- We have to see through the sastra characteristic of a rascal, that he is not Krsna conscious. That's all. We may be fool, but we take lesson from Bhagavad-gita. That's all. And from the lesson we understand you are rascal number one. That's all
- We have to see through the sastra. Not by these blunt eyes. That is not possible. So all these things should be discussed, should be understood, so long we are young, strong, brain is in order. Then our life will be successful
- We have to take information of Krsna from the sastra. Sastram eva caksusa. Vedanta-sutra. Your eyes should be sastra, not your so-called imagination. Sastra-caksus
- We have to understand through sastra. We cannot see our past, present and future, but if we see through the sastras . . . Sastra-caksusa: "You should try to see from the sastra." Actually, we understand everything through sastra, not directly
- We have to, according to the sastric injunction, according to the spiritual master instruction, everywhere we have to organize this Krsna family
- We may advertise ourselves as very great jnanis, learned personalities, but we are actually fools. That is the sastric conclusion. If we are actually jnanis, we should surrender unto Krsna
- We must engage in the nine processes of devotional service, the first of which is hearing (sravana). Then, under the direction of the spiritual master and the sastras, one can immediately become a liberated person

- We should not be sorry. Because Krsna says. When we, I mean to say, deliberately discuss on sastras, there is no question of compromising. We must face the bare facts
- We should take advantage of the sastras, Vedic knowledge. It is India's property. Everything was cultivated in India, but because andha yathandhair upaniyamanah. Our rascal leaders (of India), they are leading these andhas, they are not interested
- We should take from the sastra the real path. Then we shall become intelligent. Su-medhasah
- We should take standard sastra and follow and establish educational institution to train them. Otherwise, simply by crying in the wilderness, what will be the result
- What is the value of opinion if the people are all asses? There is no opinion. One should take as it is enjoined in the sastra. No opinion. What is the use of taking opinion of an ass?
- What Krsna says, that is recorded in the sastra, especially in the Bhagavad-gita. So you act what is said in the Bhagavad-gita; then you remain free from all sinful reaction
- Whatever He (Lord Caitanya) does, whatever He speaks, that is sastra. But still, because He's playing the part of acarya, He immediately gives Vedic evidences. That is the way of acarya
- Whatever Krsna says, that is Supreme, not a third-class man's version. Is it clear? Yes. We should not take a third-class, fourth-class man's version. We should take from the sastra
- Whatever thoughts are coming, you note it. Keep it. We shall utilize it with reference, with reference to the sastra
- When a lady takes an ordinary bath it is called mala-snana, and when she takes a full bath, including the head it is called sirah-snana. At this time she needs sufficient oil to smear on her head. That is the direction of the commentators of smrti-sastra
- When an advanced devotee comes to the point of eternal love for Krsna, no one can deviate him from that position, neither by argument nor by sastric evidence
- When an intelligent person hears from the lawbooks and sastras, or scriptures, that stealing is not good and hears that a thief is punished when arrested, he refrains from theft
- When he (a second-class devotee) becomes expert in logic and can refer to the sastras, he becomes a first-class devotee
- When he's trained up nicely, humble, self-controlled, educated, then his second birth, second birth, by Vedic knowledge. Janmana jayate sudrah samskarad bhaved dvijah. Samskara, reformatory. He has become humble, meek, well-versed in sastra
- When His incarnation is present on this planet or in this universe, the Lord kills the demons & protects His devotees simultaneously. Sometimes Visnu appears in His person as Lord Krsna or Lord Rama. All of these appearances are mentioned in the sastras
- When one indulges in illicit sex life, as defined by the sastras, either by thinking, planning, talking about or actually having sexual intercourse, or by satisfying the genitals by artificial means, he is caught in the clutches of maya
- When one performs ritualistic sacrifices as prescribed in the Vedas, one needs expert brahmanas known as yajnika-brahmanas. In Kali-yuga there is a scarcity of such brahmanas. Therefore in Kali-yuga the sacrifice recommended in sastra is sankirtana-yajna
- When properly executed in terms of the rites mentioned in the sastras, which are now very difficult to perform in this age of want and scarcity, such (demigod) worship can certainly fulfill one’s desires for sense gratification
- When self-realized, the advanced devotee externally remains like a neophyte and executes all the sastric injunctions, especially those concerning hearing and chanting
- When the Lord will be pleased with you, you will also understand these conclusions and will quote from the sastras
- When the mother Vedas (sruti) is questioned as to whom to worship, she says that You are the only Lord and worshipable object. Similarly, the corollaries of the sruti-sastras, the smrti-sastras, give the same instructions, just like sisters
- When the priests and all the others saw Maharaja Prthu very angry and prepared to kill Indra, they requested him: O great soul, do not kill him, for only sacrificial animals can be killed in a sacrifice. Such are the directions given by sastra
- When the quality and work is there, there is a brahmana. Otherwise even one is born in a brahmana family, we reject them. He is sudra; but he has no quality, he has no work. That is sastric injunction
- When there is a discussion on a point of sastra, devotees do not observe the usual etiquette, they speak only the satyam, although it may not necessarily be priyam
- When there is a scarcity of grain, the government should follow the methods prescribed in the sastra and approved by the acaryas; thus there will be a sufficient production of grains, and food scarcity and famine can be checked
- When there is allowance for sex life or meat-eating or drinking in the sastras, they are not meant for instigating that "You go on with this business as much as you can." No. Actually they are meant for restriction
- When there is in the sastra nirakara, this word is used, nirakara means He (Krsna) has no prakrta-akara, material form. Not that He has no form. That is poor fund of knowledge. He is sac-cid-ananda-vigraha - Bs. 5.1
- When they (so-called jnanis, yogis, karmis and tapasvis) say they are as good as we are, we must say that only we are good and that they are not good. This is not our obstinacy; it is the injunction of the sastras
- When we speak of Bhagavan, or when the sastras refer to Bhagavan, we refer to Him who is above material understanding
- When you follow without consideration of whether it (the order of the spiritual master and the order of the sastra, or scripture) is convenient or inconvenient, simply because it must be done, that is called tapasya
- Whenever there is ruling, either by weapons or by injunctions, the sas-dhatu is the basic principle. Between sastra (ruling through weapons) and sastra (ruling through the injunctions of the scriptures), the better is sastra
- Wherever there is the living entity, Krsna is there as friend. Su-parna, sayuja. So, from the sastra it is understood, as many material atoms are there, so many spiritual atoms are there. Now you can imagine how many living entities are there
- Wherever you go, you read from the sastra, the demigods, they're supposed to be very happy in the upper planetary systems - they are also not in happiness. There is fight between the demons and the demigods and so on, so on
- Whether I am progressing or regressing, that will be understood through the eyes of sastra, not in ordinary eyes
- Who is sadhu? Who is abiding by the injunction of the sastra. Or guru? Guru means he's also abiding by the injunction of the sastra. Then he's guru, he's sadhu. He's sadhu
- Whoever speaks what Krsna has not spoken is not a guru but a rascal. A guru only speaks what Krsna has spoken. This is the sastric injunction
- Whole sastra, whole Vedic literature is meant for, to awaken you to your sat position, eternal position. Now we are in temporary position with this body, on account of getting this material body. Everything here temporary
- Without reference to the sastras (scriptures) there can be no question of accepting anyone as an incarnation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead

- Yal-laksanam proktam. One's place in the varna divisions of society is determined according to one's symptoms or qualities. This is maintained everywhere in the sastra
- Yogis other than the devotees - namely the karma-yogi and jnana-yogi - worship You by their respective actions in their respective positions. It is stated both in the Vedas and in the sastras that are corollaries of the Vedas
- You are an experienced authority in the sastras, whereas Jaga is just a young boy
- You can go on mental speculating, but if you do even for many hundreds and thousand of years, it is not possible to calculate. You have to accept this truth through the sastra; otherwise, it is not possible
- You cannot create this big mass of water. That is not possible. Somebody has created. That is stated in the sastra. There is perspiration. This water is perspiration of Maha-Visnu. We can understand, because we are minute particle of Maha-Visnu
- You cannot do acts of humanity without proper guidance. The Vedanta Sutra is the proper guidance because the sastra "Athata Brahmajijnasa" is the beginning of an inquiry in the essence of our different engagements
- You cannot imagine how the creation takes place, huge creation. That sort of explanation - "There was a chunk, and it exploded" - no, these are not explanation. Here is explanation, in the sastra
- You cannot say, "Why not (keep car) to the left?" Then you are criminal. Similarly, there are codes and description in the sastra what God wants
- You don't be so courageous that you know everything. You have to know from the sastra
- You have come here to hear about Krsna consciousness. Otherwise, why you have come here? You have come here hearing me or anyone discussing sastra. So this is required
- You have no knowledge or instrument how to see that minute particle of soul. But there is measurement. There is measurement it is in the sastra
- You have to consult sastra. There is direction. It is . . . practically it is the same. Just like Manu-samhita, it says that if one is a murderer then he should be killed. Life for life. He should be hanged. That is the old system
- You have to go to guru to understand. You cannot understand personally. That is not possible. Therefore our system is to see through the guru and sastra, not by these naked eyes. That is misleading
- You have to see through the sastra, sastra-caksusa. Just like you see the sun just like a disc, but when you go through the sastra, authorized books, you understand that it is fourteen hundred thousand times bigger than this earth
- You learn from the sastra. You learn from Bhagavad-gita what Krsna says and do it. Then you are not responsible for anything. Just like there is lawbook
- You must execute your business as it is advised by the sastra and guru. So utsahad dhairyad niscayat tat-tat-karma-pravartanat, sato vrtteh. Your dealings must be very honest, not duplicity
- You should be always alert in understanding the sastric conclusions that will help you, otherwise we can be misled by bogus philosophies
- You should be assured that "Because I'm following strictly the direction of my spiritual master and sastras, certainly I shall meet Krsna"
- You should see through the sastra, authoritative sastra, books. What we are speaking about the moon planet, sun planet, or God, His abode is Vaikunthaloka, so many things we are talking. How we are talking? We are talking through the Vedic literature
- You'll find in the Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, wherever Srila Rupa Gosvami has stated something, immediately he has given reference from the sastras. He did not manufacture anything which is against the sastras. That is rupanuga, rupanuga-vaisnava
- Your quotations from our Vaisnava sastras are very nice and I request you thoroughly to study all of our literatures very thoughtfully and try to understand the sublime import of this Krishna consciousness philosophy
- Your siddhanta is correct to the sastra and in this way go on reading books and have the correct perception and Krsna will help you. siddhanta baliya citte na kara alasa iha haite krsna lage sudrdha manasa
