Theme Analysis

Śrīla Prabhupāda continually emphasizes that the Absolute Truth is ultimately the Absolute Personality of Godhead. The realization of the impersonal Brahman or the localized Paramātmā is incomplete, as these are merely partial phases deduced from the Supreme Person, who possesses six opulences in full. This Absolute Person is conclusively identified in the Vedas and the Bhagavad-gītā as Kṛṣṇa. Because the living entities are minute fragmental sparks of this Supreme Whole, they can never be considered equal to Him. Śrīla Prabhupāda warns that due to our imperfect senses, the Absolute Personality of Godhead cannot be understood through mental speculation. He can only be realized through the descending process of hearing from authorized scriptures and rendering spontaneous loving devotional service under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master.

  • The Supreme Phase of the Truth: Brahman and Paramātmā are subordinate deductions from the Absolute Personality of Godhead, who is full in all opulences.
  • Kṛṣṇa is the Original Person: Vedic literatures and the Bhagavad-gītā confirm that the Absolute Truth is ultimately a person, Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
  • The Fragmental Sparks: The living entities are parts and parcels of the Absolute Person and can never become equal to the Supreme Whole.
  • The Defeat of Speculation: The Absolute Person is beyond the range of human thinking and cannot be known through mental speculation.
  • The Path of Devotion: Spontaneous, loving devotional service is the only way to link with and realize the Absolute Personality of Godhead.
