Theme Analysis

Śrīla Prabhupāda demystifies the spiritual realm by explaining the nature of the absolute platform. On this platform, the dualities of the material world—such as friend and enemy, or violence and non-violence—cease to exist, as everything is of the nature of pure goodness, or suddha-sattva. Śrīla Prabhupāda clarifies that although the absolute platform is characterized by oneness, it is not a monolithic void. Rather, it is full of spiritual variegatedness. The Lord expands into unlimited forms and pastimes to relish different kinds of spiritual humors, or rasas. On this platform, the holy name of Kṛṣṇa is identical to Kṛṣṇa Himself, and the instructions of the spiritual master are identical to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. To reach this state, one must move beyond the ascending process of mental speculation and embrace the path of bhakti, which allows the living entity to stand firmly on the absolute platform of eternal existence.

  • Oneness and Identity: Because the Lord is on the absolute platform, there is no difference between His name, His form, His speech, and His person.
  • Variegatedness vs. Impersonalism: The absolute platform is not void; it contains unlimited spiritual varieties, such as different rasas and forms, as a challenge to monistic ideas.
  • Transcendence of Dualities: On this platform, material distinctions like anger and pleasure, or meeting and separation, are all equally transcendental and auspicious.
  • Equality in Service: Although there are roles of master and servant, both stand on the same absolute platform, making the relationship one of spiritual oneness.
  • The Path of Descent: The absolute platform cannot be reached by human effort or speculation; the Absolute Truth must descend to us through the authorized process.
