The acceptance of a material body is the fundamental cause of suffering for the conditioned soul. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the living entity, originally a spiritual part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa, becomes entangled in the cycle of birth and death due to material desires and ignorance. Driven by the desire to enjoy separately from the Lord, the soul is awarded various types of bodies by the laws of nature to fulfill karmic propensities. This continuous transmigration is fraught with anxiety and the threefold miseries. The ultimate goal of human life is to break this chain of samsara by cultivating Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which purifies the existence and allows the soul to return to its original spiritual form, free from the necessity of accepting another material body.
- Cause of Material Entanglement: The living entity accepts a material body due to unsatisfied desires, ignorance of their spiritual identity, and the propensity to enjoy the material world, creating a chain of karma that forces repeated birth.
- Inherent Misery of Embodiment: Accepting a material body automatically subjects the soul to the fourfold miseries of birth, death, old age, and disease, as well as constant anxiety caused by attachment to the temporary.

- A man engages in sinful activities because he does not know what he did in his past life to get his present materially conditioned body, which is subjected to the threefold miseries

- Prakrti can give us material bodies, but as spirit souls we are parts and parcels of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is confirmed in BG (15.7): The living entity, being part and parcel of God, is not a product of this material world

- Should be our aim, that in this very life we shall make our devotional service so perfect, and we shall try to know Krsna as far as possible, so that Krsna says such devotee does not accept any more material body. He comes back in a spiritual body

- So long we'll make program how to become happy materially, your mind being absorbed in material things, not in the spiritual matter, you'll have to accept another body. This is your problem
- So long you continue to accept this material body, there cannot be any happiness. You may try to become happy by constructing big, big skyscraper house and possessing three dozen motorcars, but happiness is not possible
- So long you'll get this material body, you have to suffer. It is meant for suffering. As soon as you get this material body, this body or that body, you have to suffer
- Sukadeva Gosvami replied (to Pariksit Maharaja) that everyone’s atma, or soul, is very, very dear, especially to all living entities who have accepted material bodies. But that atma, the spirit soul, is part and parcel of Krsna

- The activities of those who are conditioned by material nature are taken into account, and in their next life, according to these activities, they are offered different types of material bodies
- The demigods wanted Maharaja Nimi to come to life, but Maharaja Nimi did not want to accept another material body
- The four sinful activities are illicit sex, meat-eating, intoxication and gambling. These are the means by which one gets another material body that is full of miseries
- The function of the human body is to attain freedom from material bondage, but as long as one is fully absorbed in material activities, his mind will be overwhelmed in the whirlpool of matter, and thus he will continue to be encaged in material bodies
- The living entity changes his body as soon as the higher authorities decide on his next body. As long as a living entity is conditioned within this material world, he must take material bodies one after another
- The living entity is contaminated and suffering because he has a material body, but that does not mean that because the Lord is also with him, He also has a material body
- The living entity should know that his only real concern is how to get free from material contact, for by absorbing his mind in material activities he takes material bodies again and again
- The Lord is the father of all living entities because He impregnates material energy with the conditioned souls. The conditioned souls get bodies created by the material energy, whereas the father of the living entities is aloof from the three modes
- The ordinary living entities who are manifested in this material world have bodies created by the material energy
- The result is that instead of attaining an unconditional life of full freedom, the mad conditioned soul is entangled again and again in different types of bondage in material bodies
- The sastra always says that "Don't work in such a way that you have to accept again body after death." That's, that is your business. Not that to accumulate crores and rupees and make a very good bank balance & skyscraper house & 3 or dozens of motorcars
- There are no such differences for Krsna, because His body is full of knowledge. Here we receive material bodies because of a lack of knowledge, but because Krsna, Vasudeva, is full of knowledge, there is no difference between His body and His soul
- There are two kinds of liberated souls having material bodies: the soul liberated by devotional service and the soul liberated by the cultivation of knowledge
- This (sac-cid-ananda-vigraha) is God's constitution. This our constitution. The difference between God and ourself is that God never accepts this material body, but sometimes we, under certain circumstances, we have to accept this material body
- This (stopping samsara) can be done only when one is Krsna conscious, or has achieved the service of the lotus feet of the Lord. Otherwise one must rot in this material world and accept a material body subject to birth, death, old age and disease
- This disease means birth, death, old age and disease. So as soon as you accept this material body, you become subjected to the four laws of material nature
- This is the highest perfection - to give up one’s material body and not accept another but to return home, back to Godhead. It is not that perfection means one’s existence becomes void or zero
- Those who think that the Supreme Lord appears in different forms by accepting a body made of material elements are wrong; their vision is imperfect because they do not understand how the Lord's internal potency works
W
- We are all living beings, but because we have accepted this material body, we are suffering. Now we require this fan. Why? Because feeling some pains on account of heat. That heat is felt by the body, not the soul
- We should work in such a way that we will not get another material body, How can this be done? We simply have to try to understand Krsna
- What is the benefit of going to Krsna? Krsna says, that if you go back to home, back to Godhead, Krsna, then you haven’t got to come again and accept this temporary, material body and suffer. This whole thing is explained in the BG. Read very carefully
- When a devotee gives up his body, the mind does not take him to another material body (tyaktva deham punar janma naiti mam eti (BG 4.9)); rather, Krsna takes the devotee to that place where He is engaged in His pastimes
- When one acts sinfully in this life, he gets a suitable body for the next life. When one again acts sinfully, he takes on another material body. In this way one is continuously under the influence of material nature
- When one is very sinful, he does not get the material body. He lives in the subtle body: mind, intelligence & ego. That is ghostly life. And they display. Because they have no body, one cannot see, but they display so many mischiefs. That is ghostly life
- When the material of the body does not act very nicely, the soul has to take another material condition of body, giving up the present one. The body is changing, but the soul is there
- Where is this training is given that "We are spirit soul. This body is temporary, and the spirit soul business is this, so that spirit soul may be purified, no more he accepts this material body"? Where is that education?

- You cannot get out of it so long you do not stop acceptance of another material body. That is called real liberation, no more accepting material body
