The ultimate destination for every living entity is to escape this temporary world of miseries and achieve the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the soul is eternally a part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa, but due to long association with material nature, its original spiritual consciousness has become completely covered by illusion. This dormant love cannot be awakened by performing dry Vedic rituals, accumulating material wealth, or pursuing high university education. Kṛṣṇa is an independent person, and He allows Himself to be captured only by unalloyed devotional service carried out with deep faith and intense longing. By submissively tracking the footsteps of the pure residents of Vrndavana and fixing the mind on the holy name, the conditioned soul purifies its existence, conquers the material modes, and safely returns back home to the spiritual sky.
