Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu descends not only to inaugurate the saṅkīrtana movement but to provide absolute protection to the souls of Kali-yuga. As the supreme maintainer of the universe, known as Viśvambhara, His divine presence dispels the darkness of material existence. He offers a protective shelter to His surrendered devotees, saving them from the dangerous pitfalls of material affection and external obstacles.
