Śrīla Prabhupāda describes Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu's visit to Vṛndāvana as a journey of intense spiritual emotion and rediscovery. Although the Lord is Kṛṣṇa Himself, He visited Vṛndāvana in the mood of a devotee to teach the world the importance of the holy dhāma. He traveled through the forests of Vṛndāvana, identifying the lost locations of Kṛṣṇa's pastimes and exhibiting symptoms of ecstatic love that astonished the local residents.

• Solitary Pilgrimage: Lord Caitanya preferred to visit Vṛndāvana alone or with a single servant (Balabhadra Bhaṭṭācārya) to avoid crowds. He taught that one should not make a commercial show of pilgrimage but should visit in a mood of simplicity and contemplation.
