The soul is originally pure and spiritual, but upon entering the material world, it becomes covered by the infectious contamination of the three modes of nature. - The rules and regulations of devotional service are based on this principle: anything in touch with the lotus feet of the Lord is immediately freed from all material contamination
- The senses of the Personality of Godhead are not made of the material elements; they are all transcendental, free from all contamination of material identification
- The soul is originally pure and so also the senses. By material contamination the senses assume the role of imperfection and impurity. By revival of contact with the Supreme Pure, Lord Krsna, the senses again become freed from material contaminations

- Those who are freed from all material contaminations surrender unto the Supreme Lord and engage in His devotional service. As long as the material contamination is not completely washed off, they are by nature nondevotees. BG 1972 purports
- Those who are physically and mentally contaminated by atheism cannot be situated on the transcendental platform, but as soon as one is freed from material contamination he is immediately fit to be situated in devotional service
- Those who have transcended the qualitative Vedic attractions, can understand Krsna, who is never contaminated by the material qualities. Therefore Lord Visnu is addressed here (SB 4.7.27) as ananjana - free from material contamination
- Those, however, who are consciously engaged in the devotional service of the Lord are transcendental to all varieties of sin and virtue. Their activities are free from the contamination of the three modes of material nature

- We must always remember, however, that such eagerness to follow in the footsteps of the denizens of Braja (Vrndavana) is not possible unless one is freed from material contamination
- When a brahmana engages in the Lord's service, this indicates that he is free from contamination and material attachment
