In the absolute realm, there is no difference between the glories of the Supreme Lord (Bhagavān) and the glories of His pure devotee (bhagavad-bhakta). This principle is the very essence of the word Bhāgavata, which encompasses the pastimes and praises of both. A pure Vaiṣṇava is naturally humble and never seeks to advertise their own greatness or demand respect from others. However, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, takes immense pleasure in establishing and broadcasting the glories of His servants. The spiritual power and glory of a devotee are unparalleled because they are always in touch with the all-great. When pure devotees like Śukadeva Gosvāmī try to cover their natural brilliance through humility, their spiritual glamor still forces even the greatest sages to rise from their seats in honor. Similarly, the deep, esoteric knowledge possessed by personalities like Rāmānanda Rāya is so profound that Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu personally traveled to confirm and hear his glories. Even great demigods like Lord Śiva admit to their wives that the beauty and glory of a person who has become a servant of the servant of God cannot be matched by any material opulence or mystic power.
Hearing about these glories is the lifeblood of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. Advanced devotees are never satiated; they find topics concerning the Lord and His associates constantly fresh and pleasing. Conversely, those who are conquered by lust and anger, or those who falsely advertise their own glory while worshiping the Deity, commit offenses and cannot estimate the true transcendental position of a Vaiṣṇava. Ultimately, glorious is the devotee who never gives up the shelter of the Lord, and equally glorious is the Lord who eternally protects, sanctifies, and advertises the unmatched qualities of His surrendered servant.
