Śrīla Prabhupāda clearly explains that no one can achieve spiritual perfection, or even execute basic material functions like digestion or seeing, without God's help. To rescue the conditioned souls who are struggling in the material world, the all-merciful Supreme Personality of Godhead provides assistance in three primary ways: through the scriptures (śāstra), from within as the Supersoul (caitya-guru), and from without as the bona fide spiritual master. The Lord never interferes with the minute independence of the living entity. If a soul stubbornly desires to go to hell, the Lord helps them forget Him; but the moment a soul sincerely desires to return back to Godhead, the Lord actively directs them, removes their sinful reactions (aham tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi), and provides all necessary intelligence. Furthermore, the Lord also descends to help the administrative demigods when they are vexed by demons, demonstrating that whether one is an ordinary human, a powerful demigod, or a great devotee, the ultimate source of all protection and success is the causeless help of the Supreme Lord.
- The Illusion of Independence: Conditioned souls are utterly helpless. We cannot digest food, see with our eyes, or achieve any material or scientific success without the direct help of the Supreme Lord.

- A conditioned soul is always helped by the SPG in three ways - by the scriptures, the spiritual master and the Supersoul within the heart. The Lord is the deliverer of the conditioned soul and is accepted as the Supreme Lord of all living entities
