Theme Analysis

Śrīla Prabhupāda explains the absolute opulence regarding God's possessions. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Bhagavān, is defined as the ultimate possessor of all six opulences in full: wealth, strength, fame, beauty, knowledge, and renunciation. Although conditioned souls falsely claim ownership over the land, the elements, and their bodies, everything is actually the property of the Lord, who expands His energies everywhere. Despite possessing the entire cosmos and the spiritual world, the Lord is so magnanimous that He allows Himself to be controlled by the love of His pure devotees. A true Vaiṣṇava understands that they possess nothing material and finds perfect happiness solely in possessing the devotional service of the Lord.

  • The Complete Opulences: Bhagavān is uniquely defined as the Supreme Personality of Godhead because He is the sole possessor of all six primary opulences in their absolute, unlimited fullness.
  • The Supreme Proprietor: Ignorant living entities falsely claim ownership over the material world, failing to realize that Kṛṣṇa is the ultimate creator and possessor of all planetary systems.
  • The Display of Energies: The Lord's possessions extend beyond gross matter; He possesses unlimited internal, external, and marginal potencies that sustain all cosmic and spiritual manifestations.
  • The Wealth of Devotion: While possessing everything, the Supreme Lord graciously depends on the love of His pure devotees, who in turn desire no material possessions, satisfied entirely by their wealth of devotional service.
