Theme Analysis
Śrīla Prabhupāda clarifies the concept of God's prakṛti (nature or material energy). Prakṛti is not an independent, self-acting entity; it is the divine, eternal energy belonging exclusively to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. The Lord acts as the supreme puruṣa (enjoyer/male principle) who glances over the dormant prakṛti (female principle/nature) to impregnate it with the living entities and set the cosmic creation into motion. Because prakṛti emanates directly from the Lord, it is real and eternal, not false, acting much like heat and light act as energies of a fire. The foolish materialist thinks nature works automatically, but the sane devotee understands that prakṛti is entirely guided and superintended by the Supreme Lord.
- The Eternal Energy: The material nature (prakṛti) is an eternal, factual emanation from the Supreme Lord, directly refuting the misconception that the cosmic manifestation is entirely false or non-existent.
- The Glancing of the Puruṣa: The material creation is activated when the Supreme Lord, acting as the supreme puruṣa, glances over the dormant prakṛti and impregnates it with the conditioned souls.
- The Supreme Superintendent: Nature does not work blindly or automatically; the entire operation of prakṛti is strictly superintended and controlled by the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
- The Illusion of Independence: Ignorant scientists and atheists mistakenly study prakṛti as an independent phenomenon, failing to recognize that it is simply the Lord's subordinate, external energy.
