Category:God Is Independent
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute autonomy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Vedic literatures, particularly the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, define the Lord as svarāṭ, or completely independent. While every other living entity, demigod, and material element is strictly dependent on the Supreme Lord for their existence and knowledge, God is solely dependent on Himself. He creates, maintains, and annihilates the cosmic manifestation without being the least bit affected or obligated by material nature. Recognizing this fundamental distinction between the dependent living entities and the independent Supreme Lord defeats all Māyāvāda misconceptions that claim the soul is equal to God. True liberation and perfect knowledge are achieved only when the living entity accepts its dependent position and completely surrenders to the supreme independent shelter, Nārāyaṇa.
- The Definition of Svarāṭ: The Supreme Lord is absolutely independent and self-sufficient. He is the original cause of everything, possessing no father or creator above Himself.
- The Illusion of Independence: Less intelligent persons and mental speculators falsely claim equality with God, ignoring the fact that their existence, knowledge, and bodily functions are entirely dependent on the Supersoul.
- Transcendental to Material Nature: Although the Lord creates and enters the material universes, He remains perfectly independent of the modes of nature and the reactions of karma, unlike the conditioned living entities.
- The Supreme Shelter and Controller: Because the Lord is not dependent on anything else (svāśrayāśrayaḥ), He is the ultimate shelter and the supreme controlling person who directs all demigods and universal affairs.
