The philosophical essence of this category establishes the divine identity of Lord Matsya, the supreme fish incarnation (līlā-avatāra) of the Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that foolish demons mistakenly consider the Lord's animal incarnations to be ordinary material beasts. Simply by hearing the glorious pastimes of Lord Matsya, a conditioned soul is freed from all sinful reactions and returns back to Godhead.
