Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute, unlimited power of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Because God is omnipotent (Yogeśvara), He can perform anything and everything simply by His supreme will. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Lord's omnipotence allows Him to possess all-powerful, transcendental senses—He can see with His hands, eat with His eyes, and be simultaneously present in Goloka Vṛndāvana, within every atom, and inside the heart of every living entity as the Supersoul (Paramātmā). By His inconceivable power, the Lord accepts the loving service of His devotees through His Deity form (arcā-vigraha), transforming matter into spirit. Furthermore, God's omnipotence means He is absolutely nondifferent from His holy name, form, and pastimes, effortlessly creating, maintaining, and annihilating innumerable universes while remaining completely aloof and transcendental.

  • The Transcendental Senses: Unlike a material body where each limb has a limited function, the omnipotent Lord has transcendental senses. With any single sense, He can perform the activities of all the other senses.
  • All-Pervading Presence: The Lord's omnipotence is displayed by His ability to be simultaneously present everywhere. While eternally residing in His spiritual abode, He is simultaneously situated within every atom and the heart of every living being.
  • The Deity Form: Out of His causeless mercy and omnipotence, the Lord descends as the arcā-vigraha. Although it appears to be made of material elements, the omnipotent Lord transforms it into pure spirit to accept the service of His devotees.
  • The Supreme Controller: As Yogeśvara, the master of all mystic powers, the Lord creates, maintains, and annihilates the entire cosmic manifestation simply by His will, proving that He is the supreme controller of all limited and unlimited energies.
