Category:God Is Omniscient
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute omniscience (all-knowing nature) of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that while the minute living entity (aṇu) is prone to ignorance and illusion, the Supreme Lord is infinite (vibhu) and is the original source of all knowledge. Therefore, God is sarva-jña; there is absolutely no illusion for Him. Because the Lord is not limited by a material body, His name, form, and senses are completely transcendental, enabling Him to be all-pervading and all-seeing like the sun. As the omniscient Supersoul residing within everyone's heart, He knows the deepest desires and intentions of all living beings. Consequently, a pure devotee understands that there is no need to ask the Lord for personal benefits, as the omniscient supreme father already knows exactly what is best for His surrendered children.
- The Source of All Knowledge: The Supreme Lord is the primeval cause of everything and the reservoir of all knowledge. Unlike the atomic living entities who are subjected to illusion, the infinite Lord is perfectly omniscient.
- The Transcendental Body: A material body is limited and cannot possess omniscience or omnipotence. Therefore, the Lord's form, whether in His original spiritual abode or appearing as the arcā-vigraha, is entirely spiritual and free from material contamination.
- The All-Seeing Supersoul: Through the all-pervading rays of His spiritual effulgence (the brahma-jyotir), the Lord exists everywhere. As the Supersoul within the heart, He sees in all directions and acts as the omniscient witness to all activities.
- Omniscient Reciprocation: Because God knows the hearts of everyone, pure devotees do not pray for material benedictions. The omniscient Lord perfectly understands why a soul has taken shelter of Him and reciprocates accordingly, sometimes even taking away material facilities to bestow special mercy.
