Category:God Is Pure

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute and uncontaminated nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that God is eternally pure, or pavitram, and completely free from any tinge of material inebriety. Although the Lord interacts with the material world and expands into various incarnations, He remains perfectly unalloyed, much like the sun that remains untainted by the impurities it shines upon. The living entities, being part and parcel of the Lord, are also originally pure but have become contaminated through contact with the material modes of nature. Reinstating oneself in the pure, original consciousness through devotional service is the only way to enter the pure, spiritual kingdom of God.

  • The Supreme Purity of the Absolute Truth: The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the highest perfection of purity. He is self-sufficient, omniscient, and completely devoid of any material defects.
  • Uncontaminated by Material Nature: Even when the Lord descends into the material world or accepts the sins of His devotees, He remains entirely antiseptic and prophylactic, unaffected by the modes of material nature.
  • The Constitutional Purity of the Soul: Since the living entities are spiritual parts and parcels of God, they share His qualitative purity. Their current suffering is simply due to artificial contamination acquired through material association.
  • Approaching the Kingdom of God: God is pure, and His spiritual abode is perfectly pure. Therefore, no one can enter the kingdom of Godhead or engage in the Lord's unalloyed devotional service without first becoming entirely sinless and purified.
