Category:God Is The Cause of Everything

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa or Viṣṇu, is the ultimate, original cause of everything in existence. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that both spirit and matter—the two energies that combine to manifest the gigantic universal form—emanate directly from the Lord. Because the energies are not different from the energetic source, the Lord is both the cause and the effect of the cosmic manifestation. However, through the philosophy of acintya-bhedābheda-tattva (inconceivable simultaneous oneness and difference), the Lord remains completely distinct and aloof from the creation. Recognizing that God is the causeless, wonderful cause of all material and spiritual worlds naturally inspires an intelligent person to abandon atheistic or impersonal ideas and directly engage in unalloyed devotional service.

  • The Origin of Spirit and Matter: Both the spiritual and material energies emanate from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, making Him the absolute root cause of everything.
  • Cause and Effect: Because everything rests upon the Lord's potencies, He is simultaneously the cause and the effect. Yet, as the supreme energetic source, His personal identity remains distinct from the cosmic manifestation.
  • The Causeless Cause: While the Lord is the origin of everything—including the Brahman effulgence, the demigods, and the universes—He Himself has no cause. He is completely independent and self-existent.
  • Refuting Atheism: Demoniac philosophers claim the universe has no controller (anīśvara) or that the original cause is a void. The Vedic literatures decisively refute this, proving that the supreme cause is a person.
