Category:God Is The Supreme Enjoyer

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Kṛṣṇa or Viṣṇu, is the absolute and supreme enjoyer (puruṣa) of everything. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the root of all material suffering is the conditioned soul's futile attempt to usurp the position of the supreme enjoyer. True peace and liberation are achieved only by understanding the great peace formula of the Bhagavad-gītā: that the Lord is the supreme proprietor, the supreme friend, and the supreme enjoyer of all sacrifices and austerities. In both the material and spiritual worlds, the living entities are constitutionally positioned as His subordinate servitors. When the minute souls give up their false desire for independent enjoyment and instead dedicate themselves to assisting the Supreme Lord in His transcendental pleasure, they automatically partake in unlimited, eternal bliss.

  • The Ultimate Beneficiary: The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the original puruṣa, the eternal enjoyer. No ordinary living entity can claim to be the true enjoyer of the universe.
  • The Peace Formula: Recognizing God as the supreme enjoyer, proprietor, and friend is the ultimate formula for individual and global peace. Ignorance of this fact causes all conflict.
  • The Constitutional Position: The living entities are created to serve and assist the Supreme Lord. True happiness is found not in independent material enjoyment, but in cooperative service to the supreme enjoyer.
  • Spiritual Variegatedness: The spiritual world is not a void; it contains the same varieties of pleasure as the material world, but they are pure and meant exclusively for the satisfaction of the supreme enjoyer.
