Vaniquotes - the compiled essence of Vedic knowledge

Category:God Is The Supreme Spiritual Master

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, is the supreme spiritual master of everyone. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that all perfect Vedic knowledge is infallible precisely because it originates from the Lord Himself and descends through the authorized disciplic succession (paramparā). Because the conditioned souls are bewildered by the darkness of ignorance and entangled in false material happiness, the Supreme Lord mercifully appears to deliver them by giving transcendental instructions, as He did in the Bhagavad-gītā. A bona fide spiritual master is the direct representative of this supreme spiritual master and acts on His behalf to enlighten the suffering living entities. The ultimate perfection of life is achieved when one accepts the Supreme Personality of Godhead as the supreme spiritual master and engages in His unalloyed devotional service.

  • The Source of Knowledge: The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the original author of Vedic knowledge. Because He spoke the first words of the Vedas, the knowledge is infallible.
  • The Disciplic Succession: Perfect transcendental knowledge must be received through the bona fide disciplic succession, which begins with the supreme spiritual master, the Lord Himself.
  • Cutting the Knot of Illusion: The conditioned souls are bound by false material desires. Only the supreme spiritual master can cut this hard knot of false happiness and grant true enlightenment.
  • The Representative of the Lord: A bona fide spiritual master acts strictly on behalf of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and must be respected as His empowered representative.
