The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is completely unaffected by the material energy. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that although the Lord creates, maintains, and annihilates the cosmic manifestation, He remains eternally aloof from it. When He descends into the material world as an incarnation, or when He resides within the heart of every living entity as the Supersoul, He is never contaminated by the three modes of material nature. Unlike the conditioned soul who is bound by karma and bewildered by māyā, the Supreme Lord is fully independent. Because His body is pure spirit (sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha), He transcends all material dualities. He is unaffected by praise or blasphemy, enmity or friendship.
