The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is ananta, or completely unlimited. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that while the living entities are qualitatively one with God, they are quantitatively minute and strictly limited in their power, knowledge, and existence. In contrast, the Supreme Lord possesses unlimited forms, energies, names, and opulences. Because mundane philosophers and impersonalists have a poor fund of knowledge, they falsely assume that if God is unlimited, He must be formless. However, the Vedic literatures confirm that the Lord is an unlimited person who expands into innumerable incarnations, such as Lord Śeṣa and Mahā-Viṣṇu, without ever diminishing His original complete form. Since our material senses and speculative powers are finite, we can never measure or comprehend the unlimited Absolute Truth through our own endeavor; He can only be known by His causeless mercy when we engage in submissive aural reception and pure devotional service.

- A conditioned soul, by mystic power, can sometimes expand into eight forms, but the Lord's bodily expansions are unlimited. This means that the bodies of the Lord have no beginning and no end, unlike the bodies of the living entities
