Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute independence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who performs all actions simply because He likes to. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Lord is not bound by any material laws; by His inconceivable potencies, He creates the cosmic manifestation and sustains immense planets in the air or water simply by His sweet will. Whenever He likes, He can expand into unlimited forms or appear in the material world to enjoy transcendental pastimes. However, the most profound aspect of His supreme independence is how He chooses to interact with the living entities. Because the Lord is full of bliss (sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha), He likes every part and parcel of His energy to participate in His eternal rāsa-līlā. Even more astonishingly, the omnipotent Lord actually likes to be dependent upon and controlled by the pure love of His devotees. A self-realized soul understands this divine nature and surrenders fully, recognizing that the Lord has the ultimate right to do whatever He likes.
- The Supreme Sweet Will: The Supreme Lord is entirely independent. He utilizes His multipotencies to create, sustain, and manipulate the cosmic manifestation exactly as He likes, without any impediment.
- Unrestricted Appearances: The Lord is never forced to take birth by the laws of karma. He appears and disappears anywhere and everywhere simply because He likes to take pleasure in His pastimes.
- Desire for Loving Exchange: God is not a desireless void. He actively likes to invite all living entities, who are His parts and parcels, to join Him in the supreme spiritual bliss of His eternal rāsa-līlā.
- Controlled by Pure Devotion: Although He is the supreme controller of everyone, the Lord finds great pleasure in being dependent upon and controlled by His unalloyed devotees.
