The philosophical essence of this category explores a profound question: What does the Supreme Personality of Godhead want when He is already completely full and self-satisfied? Ultimately, the perfection of human life is simply aligning our own desires with what God wants, thereby entering into His eternal, blissful service.
- Reclaiming the Fallen: The Lord's primary desire for the material world is for the conditioned souls to cease their suffering, give up their rebellious independence, and return back to Godhead.
- The Absolute Will: The Lord's will is infallible. If He wants a specific outcome—whether to protect a devotee or annihilate a demon—material nature effortlessly executes His desire without fail.
- Glorifying the Devotee: Although the Lord performs all the work behind the scenes, He possesses a beautiful desire to step back and give the credit for success to His unalloyed devotees.

- Everyone wants to act as the proprietor of his actions so that he can enjoy the result. A devotee, however, has no such desire; he acts because the Personality of Godhead wants him to act in a particular way. He has no personal motive
- Everyone worships God: "My Lord, my Lord, my Lord." So therefore God sometimes wants that "Who will chastise Me?"
- Everyone worships the Supreme Lord with great reverence; therefore the Lord sometimes wants to enjoy the chastisement of His devotees. In this way the relationship eternally existing between the Lord and His devotees is fixed, just like the sky overhead

- He (Balarama) immediately wanted to scratch the land near the river with His plowshare (because Yamuna neglected His order)
- He (God) descends to the material world to induce the nondevotees and rebellious living entities to return home, back to Godhead. He requests them to surrender unto Him because, unlimited as He is, He wants to increase His devotees unlimitedly

- Lord Buddha appeared. He wanted to stop men from the sinful activities of killing unnecessarily (the animals) under the plea of Vedas. So he invented that ahimsa, nonviolence
- Lord Krsna wanted to exhibit Himself as being like an ordinary householder who delights himself by exchanging joking words with his wife. He therefore repeatedly requested Rukmini not to take those words very seriously

- The Lord actually wants to see His servants work more gloriously than Himself. For instance, on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra, Sri Krsna provoked Arjuna to fight because all the warriors on the battlefield were to die by Krsna’s plan
- The Lord does not want any one of His innumerable sons (the living entities) to remain in the material world of threefold miseries to perpetually suffer the material pangs of birth, death, old age and disease
- The Lord does not want His sons, the living beings, to suffer the threefold miseries of life. He desires that all of them come to Him and live with Him, but going back to Godhead means that one must purify himself from material infections
- The Lord does not want the living entity to become entangled in the reactions of activities, be they good or bad. He simply wants everyone to go back home, back to Godhead
- The Lord felt somewhat insufficient, like a husband feeling lonely in the absence of his wife. This is a poetic simile. He wanted to create the cosmic manifestation to give another chance to the conditioned souls who were dormant in forgetfulness
- The Lord is by nature the reservoir of all pleasures, and because He wants to enjoy pleasure, there must be energies to give Him pleasure or supply Him the impetus for pleasure. This is the perfect philosophical understanding of the Absolute Truth
- The Lord is more clever than any living entity; therefore He wants to see how painstaking the devotee is in devotional service
- The Lord is so satisfied with His pure devotees that He wants to give them the credit for missionary success, although He could do the work personally. This is the sign of His satisfaction with His pure, niskama devotees, compared to the sakama devotees

- The Supersoul, the Personality of Godhead, wanted to stop Dhruva Maharaja from this severe austerity
- The supreme atma, or soul, is the Lord Himself, and the minute atma is the living entity. The supreme atma, or Paramatma, alone maintains all the individual minute beings, for the Supreme Lord wants to derive pleasure out of their affection
- The Supreme Lord does not want any living being to act sinfully, and He begs him through his good conscience to refrain from sin
- The Supreme Lord wants all living beings to be obedient to Him and thereby become happy. Therefore the king's interest is to guide all subjects back to the kingdom of God
