Category:God Within The Universe
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category explores the all-pervading presence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead within the material creation. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that God is not merely an external creator who leaves His creation to run mechanically. According to the Brahma-saṁhitā (aṇḍāntara-stha-paramāṇu-cayāntara-stham), the Lord enters into each and every universe as Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, and He further expands as Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu to enter the heart of every living entity and every single atom. Just as a physical body only develops and undergoes changes because of the active presence of the spirit soul, the universe only operates according to material laws because the Supreme Lord is present within it. Furthermore, the Lord repeatedly descends into the universe in various incarnations, appearing like an ordinary human or in wonderful forms like the giant boar, to protect His devotees, annihilate demons, and display His captivating pastimes.
- The Puruṣa-avatāras: The Lord expands into three primary viṣṇu-tattva forms for the material creation. Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu creates the universes, Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu enters each universe, and Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu enters every atom.
- The Active Cosmic Principle: The presence of the Lord within the universe is the actual cause of all material laws and cosmic changes, just as the soul is the active principle within the physical body.
- Within the Atom: God's all-pervasive nature means He is not only within the massive universe and the heart of the living entity, but He is situated within the microscopic atom.
- Divine Descents: The Lord physically appears within this universe, adopting forms suitable for His pastimes, to annihilate demons, protect the pious, and reestablish religious principles.
