Śrīla Prabhupāda dispels the widespread misconceptions surrounding the worship of goddess Kālī. Although she is depicted in a fearsome form and is often approached by meat-eaters for mundane boons, she is factually the chaste wife of Lord Śiva, who is a pure Vaiṣṇava. Therefore, she never accepts the meat offered in sacrifices; such offerings are merely a Vedic concession meant to restrict the uncontrolled habits of conditioned souls in the lower modes of nature.
