Theme Analysis
Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, expanded as the Paramātmā, is present in the heart of every living entity as the ultimate witness and guide. While Kṛṣṇa resides in the spiritual world in His original form, His expansion as the Supersoul allows Him to be intimately aware of the desires and activities of all beings, from the smallest atom to the most complex living creature. This localized presence of the Lord acts as the benefactor of the devotees, cleansing their hearts of material desires and providing the spiritual intelligence needed to attain Him.
- The Omniscient Witness: As the Supersoul, Kṛṣṇa knows the hearts of all living entities, including their hidden fears, sincere prayers, and unspoken desires.
- The Source of Enlightenment: From within the heart, the Lord acts to dissipate the darkness of ignorance by providing the torchlight of knowledge and spiritual remembrance.
- Transcendental Presence: Although the Supersoul resides in every body—including those of animals or even within the atoms—He remains entirely transcendental and unaffected by material conditions.
- The Internal Spiritual Master: Kṛṣṇa is the original teacher, known as the caitya-guru, who directs the serious seeker toward the shelter of a bona fide external spiritual master.
