Theme Analysis

The concept of a natural life is often misunderstood by modern society. People mistakenly equate it with regressing to animalistic behaviors, such as abandoning clothing or living without basic human decency. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda explicitly clarifies that such artificial regression is madness. True natural life, as defined by Vedic civilization, means living responsibly with full knowledge, minimizing artificial, machine-driven amenities, and engaging in one's prescribed duties (svadharmācaraṇam) according to the modes of material nature.

On a deeper, spiritual level, natural life means recognizing our eternal constitutional position. Because the living entity is an inseparable part and parcel of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Kṛṣṇa, our true, original nature is to act as His loving servants. When we forget this and artificially try to become the predominator or the master of the material world, we invite endless problems, suffering, and botheration. The modern, godless civilization is entirely artificial and unnatural. In moments of extreme danger, even atheists instinctively turn to God, proving that God consciousness is the actual, default setting of the soul.

The ultimate perfection of natural life is fully realized when our energy is completely purified from material inebrieties and dovetailed in Kṛṣṇa's service. This pristine, natural state of life is eternally manifested in the spiritual sky, specifically in Goloka Vṛndāvana and the Vaikuṇṭha planets. By adopting Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the sincere soul escapes the miseries of the condemned, artificial society and joyfully reawakens their original, beautiful, and supremely natural life of devotion.

  • The Artificial Civilization: Modern, godless society is entirely artificial, creating endless problems and botheration by ignoring the soul's relationship with God.
  • Simplicity and Prescribed Duties: A natural life involves minimizing dependence on machines and luxuries while faithfully executing one's prescribed duties.
  • The Spiritual Reality: The true, original natural life of every living entity is to act as the eternal, loving servant of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
  • The Perfection of Existence: By engaging the purified senses in Kṛṣṇa's service, the soul experiences the eternal, natural life of the spiritual sky.
