Category:Nefarious Activities
Theme Analysis
The material world is a breeding ground for nefarious activities, especially in the current degraded age of Kali-yuga. According to Śrīla Prabhupāda, people engaged in sinful, demoniac behaviors purposely deny the existence of the next life because acknowledging the strict laws of karma would force them to stop their nefarious activities. Instead, they endlessly pursue sense gratification and seek superficial blessings, completely unaware that their atrocious actions are creating another material body as a severe punishment for their next life. The impious and nondevotees are always hampered from making true advancement, but without proper leadership, their activities spread like a disease. Good government, as perfectly exemplified by Mahārāja Parīkṣit, has a sacred duty to aggressively check these disturbing elements, preventing cheating scientists and corrupt politicians from exploiting the state.
Throughout history, demoniac association has always fueled nefarious acts. The bad association of Śakuni encouraged Duryodhana to commit horrific atrocities against the Pāṇḍavas, and demons like Pūtanā attempted to murder the Supreme Lord Himself. When Kṛṣṇa appeared, He showed His absolute mercy by killing such demons to halt their sinful actions while simultaneously granting them liberation.
However, in the extraordinarily fallen age of Kali-yuga, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu introduced a radically different and supremely compassionate method of deliverance. Out of supreme kindness, He did not bring physical weapons to kill the demons, because nearly everyone in this age exhibits demoniac tendencies. Instead, His mission is to kill the nefarious activities themselves. By spreading the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement and the chanting of the holy name, the Lord transforms heinous offenders into pure Vaiṣṇava devotees, just as He did with Jagāi and Mādhāi. This is the greatest advantage of the current age: despite the overwhelming presence of nefarious activities, salvation is easily and universally attained through the holy name.
- The Rejection of Karma: Demoniac individuals deny the existence of the next life so they can peacefully continue their nefarious activities and sense gratification.
- The Duty of Government: A proper, Vedic government must strictly check the nefarious activities of cheating scientists, criminals, and the personality of Kali.
- The Danger of Bad Association: Association with envious persons like Duryodhana and Śakuni only encourages and amplifies atrocious and nefarious acts.
- The Mercy of Lord Caitanya: Instead of killing the demons physically, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu kills their nefarious activities, transforming them into pure devotees.
