The ordinary living entity operates under the misconception that the physical faculties used to interact with the world are their true senses. However, the Vedic scriptures explain that these material senses are merely dead coverings, similar to clothes over a body, animated only by the presence of the eternal soul. True enjoyment and perception are impossible as long as the soul attempts to exploit the material world through these false instruments. Real senses are spiritual in nature, and they can only be revived and fully satisfied when they are purified and engaged in the transcendental loving service of Govinda, the master of the senses.
