The Vedic literature establishes that sound (śabda) is the origin of the entire cosmic manifestation. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that just as material existence is generated by the agitating power of material sound, the process of returning to the spiritual world must also be driven by sound. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that this is because this specific sound vibration descends directly from the spiritual sky. Just as a radio receiver can capture a broadcast from thousands of miles away, a purified devotee can capture this spiritual sound released from trillions of miles away in Goloka Vṛndāvana, thereby experiencing direct association with the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
