The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Viṣṇu, is never alone in His transcendental pastimes; He is always accompanied by His eternal associates. Among these exalted figures is Garuḍa, the majestic king of the birds and the personal carrier of the Lord. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that Garuḍa is not an ordinary creature but the personified Vedas and a supreme Vaiṣṇava, fully dedicated to executing the Lord's will. Whenever there is a cosmic crisis or a devotee in severe distress, the Lord mounts the shoulders of Garuḍa, traversing the universe with inconceivable speed to bestow His causeless mercy.
