Category:Wanting to Love God
Theme Analysis
Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the innate, constitutional propensity of every living entity is the desire to love God. In the material world, this natural loving propensity is misdirected by maya, causing the conditioned soul to seek love in temporary, mundane relationships. However, if one sincerely wants to love Kṛṣṇa, absolutely nothing in the material world can impede that pursuit. Pure devotional service is ahaituki and apratihata—unmotivated and uninterrupted by any material circumstance. The ultimate standard of this unconditional love is found in the residents of Vrndavana, particularly the gopis, who wanted to love Krsna at any risk, without even caring about His majestic opulences or whether He was the Supreme Lord. Krsna perfectly reciprocates with the specific loving desire of every devotee, whether they want to love Him as a master, friend, son, or conjugal lover. This universal, unimpeded path of awakening dormant love for God is the actual essence of all true religion.
- The Unimpeded Path: Pure devotional service cannot be checked by any material condition. Regardless of race, age, wealth, or status, anyone who sincerely develops the eagerness to love God will find the path completely open.
- Misdirected Love: Every soul inherently wants to love Krsna, but due to the intervening illusion of maya, they mistakenly project this loving propensity onto temporary material objects and relationships.
- The Perfection of Vrndavana: The highest platform of devotion is exhibited by the residents of Vrndavana, who do not care about God's omnipotence; they simply want to love Krsna unconditionally for His own satisfaction.
- Divine Reciprocation: The Supreme Lord is a person, and He reciprocates perfectly with the individual desires of His devotees, allowing them to love Him in various spiritual relationships, such as a friend, child, or lover.
- The Universal Religion: The fundamental purpose of all genuine religious systems in the world is simply to teach the living entity how to reawaken their dormant love for God.
