The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, possesses infinite, transcendental beauty. This beauty is the ultimate remedy for the conditioned soul's unnatural attraction to the temporary, illusory forms of the material world. As Śrīla Prabhupāda explains, unless one becomes attracted by the spiritual beauty of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, they will be forced to remain satisfied with the false beauty of māyā. By worshiping nicely decorated Deities and meditating on the Lord's lotus feet, a practitioner gradually forgets mundane aesthetics and the shackles of conditioned life. The classic example of this purification is Yāmunācārya, who lost all taste for material sex life after his heart was captured by the Lord's exquisite beauty.
In the spiritual realm of Vṛndāvana, Kṛṣṇa's youthful, blackish form is completely irresistible. The gopīs, the unmarried cowherd girls of Vraja, were naturally and spontaneously attracted to Him as their supreme lover. Although their desire seemed lusty to mundane eyes, their attraction to Kṛṣṇa's beautiful face, eyes, and arms was purely transcendental and ultimately led them to taste the absolute nectar of His lotus feet.
The absolute superiority of Kṛṣṇa's beauty is proven by its effect on exalted, liberated personalities. Even the Bhūmā-puruṣa and the various Nārāyaṇas of the Vaikuṇṭha planets, along with their chaste goddesses of fortune, are captivated by Kṛṣṇa's bodily features. Emperor Bharata gave up his entire kingdom like untouchable stool because he was captivated by the beauty of Kṛṣṇa's lotus feet. Thus, the ultimate purpose of the Tenth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam—which represents Kṛṣṇa's smiling face—is to attract the minds of everyone to the supreme, eternal beauty of the Absolute Truth.
