Category:God Is The Controller

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category defines God primarily as the supreme controller (īśvara). Śrīla Prabhupāda asserts that the very meaning of the word "God" is the ultimate controller who is never controlled by anyone else. While living entities have a minute degree of control over their immediate environment or bodies, they are always subject to the stringent laws of material nature. In contrast, the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the master of both the material and spiritual energies, completely transcendental to the three modes of nature. Whether acknowledged or not, every living entity is controlled—either willingly by the Lord's internal spiritual energy or forcibly by His external material energy (māyā). True liberation and peace are achieved only when the rebellious soul awakens from the illusion of false independence, recognizes the supreme proprietorship of Bhagavān, and willingly surrenders to His divine control.

  • The Definition of God: God simply means the controller. While everyone in the material world is both a controller and controlled (dualistic), God is the only person who is the controller but is never controlled.
  • The Master of Energies: The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the absolute controller of the three modes of material nature (sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa, and tamo-guṇa). He creates, maintains, and dissolves the cosmos while remaining completely unaffected by it.
  • The Illusion of Independence: Atheistic philosophers and materialists falsely claim there is no controller or try to assert themselves as God. However, their subjection to birth, death, and the laws of nature proves they are merely predominated living entities.
  • The Controller Within: As the Paramātmā (Supersoul) situated in the heart of every living entity, the Lord perfectly manages the wanderings, intelligence, and karmic results of all conditioned souls.
  • The Path of Surrender: A living entity is constitutionally designed to be controlled. The ultimate perfection of life is to recognize the supreme īśvara and willingly surrender to His loving, spiritual control rather than suffering under His material agency.
